“Nothing will change the fact that Abrego Garcia will never be a Maryland father." - Karoline

The president, just now, read a long list of this violent illegal terrorist’s crimes.

It was on NewsMax.

If you watched a legitimate news source instead of MSNBC and CNN, which aired nothing of the White House news briefing with the mother of a beautiful daughter who was murdered by an illegal.
Fox covered it too.

If you were Senator Van Hollen which would you do ?

1. Call Maryland resident Rachel Morin's family and console them after her murder by an Al Salvadoran illegal immigrant.

2. Fly to El Salvador to bring a human trafficker and wife beater and twice adjudicated MS 13 gang member back to the United States.

He was convicted for human trafficking?

He had his day in court - which determined that he should be deported. NOT to El Salvador, and not to a prison that he could spend his entire life in.

I mean, you posted above that he's "likely" a human trafficker. Not sure if you're aware of how we handle that in AMERICA. Someone gets due process - they get the opportunity to prove their innocence on a charge like that, or on any charge.

And let's be clear - you support denying someone that right. I can't think of much that is more un-American than that.

The government should fix their mistake, bring him back, and then deport him as they were supposed to, so his family can join him.
This “Maryland father” was caught in Tn, driving without a license, transporting 7 illegals.

I don’t believe he was charged with human trafficking.

Wrong! He was ordered deported. When Trump got elected, suddenly he was asking for a stay on his deportation and that was granted by the Biden administration. Trump simply ended the stay.

Likely since the case was never tried. The cops in Tennessee thought he was. The Biden administration ignored the case for all intents. Therefore, likely is an appropriate term here.

He got his day in court. He was ordered deported. A stay was put on that, but stays can be cancelled.

Okay, let's do that. His family can join him right now. There's nothing stopping them from moving to El Salvador. Even if his stay is granted, the Trump administration can try him as a terrorist member of MS 13 and send him to prison here with, of course, an order of deportation on completion of his sentence.

This guy is screwed and all bringing him back here does is satisfy what amounts to a paperwork error.

They can't join him right now - what are you talking about?

I feel pretty secure in my argument. Because it's based on American values around fairness in our justice system, and equal & fair treatment for all.

MAGA's are on a different planet from that now. They simply do not believe in American values, or the Constitution.

3. Stay the fuck out of this clusterfuck because it'll just create problems one way or the other.

Answer the question

I reject the characterizations in that question. But I don't see why the Senator couldn't have called that family AND still visited Garcia.

MAGA's can keep doing their childish thing of saying Garcia is a Dem "hero" or characterize it however they want. Democrats are interested in preventing a slippery slope when it comes to justice. If we start treating due process so casually, it can disappear before we know it. We've seen that in history.

They can move to El Salvador. He's in prison there. If he is returned to the US, off to jail he goes--an virtual certainty. No difference in terms of his family.

If he gets a stay, he gets tried as a terrorist member of MS 13 and off to prison he goes. He could be jailed until trial as a flight risk. The stay whether granted or not results in the same outcome either way: He goes to prison. The only question is: Where does he do his time?

Perhaps, if this "Maryland father" ever gets out of the El Salvadorian jail, the far left Democratic loons can run him for US president, from jail, because that is where he would be if he ever returns to America.

He already went to court twice. He got deportation orders.
