one more reason to have a bed partner

I thought i had it.

I have woken up a few times now gasping for air and feeling of getting wind knocked out of me. Takes like 30seconds of gasping until I can breath again and its pretty scary. Then I get anxiety to sleep because I dont want it to happen again.

Went to the dr and he told me to stop looking at the internet for what I may or may not have. He said im far to thin to have it and told me its probably just me waking from a dream cycle or perhaps allergies. Prescribed me Ambien to sleep and Flonase nasal spray.

I think hes a dick and should have prescribed a sleep study. If it happens again im gonna go back to his office and demand one.

run do not walk to a doctor that will prescribe a sleep study IMMEDIATELY

when i had my first sleep study, the technician told be about a small woman circa 90 pounds that required a higher pressure setting than mine

ps what you have may also be a form of asthma or a combination

see a specialist

Body weight does make you more prone to sleep apnia. I guess the jaw muscles get all tired form eating all that food and drop down more ?
Does the phrase, more chins than a chinese phone book ring a bell ?

usc

it is about the diameter of the throat and the muscles that keep it open, but asthma may contribute

true that weight may contribute and usually does in most cases but not all

I also think that is could be some form of undiagnosed asthma...especially if it's triggered when you are suffering from allergies.

On a side note...what to do with a bed partner who DOESN'T listen to me or the warning signs?? I would bet money that my husband has it, and I have told him so on countless occasions..to no avail. Last night was one of countless nights of no sleep for me. I am sure there will be countless more. Earplugs no longer do the trick :(

A pillow might help. But only if you hold it over his face until he stops struggling.

Probably time for some tough love. Im sleeping in another room until you get it checked out.

Also maybe u can do a sleep study on him when ur not sleeping may be helpful to bring to that to the dr.

Hmm not a bad idea. The sleep study won't be a problem because I'm not sleeping anyway!!

Also not a bad idea. I will most certainly have a quiet night to sleep. My only concern with this plan is who will care for the twins when I'm carted off to jail.

tm

i went undiagnosed for decades - it resulted in an enlarged left ventricle and an irregular heartbeat

maybe he is in deep denial or hates going to doctors

it is the gasping and shaking that are a key indicator :(

good luck
