He attacked his opponent's identity as a person. Same thing he did with Obama. He did it with the goal of winning support from people who share her identity. Politically, it was idiotic. He must have known it was but being the lowlife he is, he couldn't resist.

What is unprofessional is the intimidation the CNN journalists showed in that debate.
Given the history Trump should have expected tough questions from a black journalist. He got them. Someone in his place with smarts and character would have kept his composure. Doing that in response to rudeness especially, had that been case as you say, and as Obama sometimes had to do, would have made him look good, look big, a guy above the pettiness. As it was, he couldn’t have looked pettier.
