“Though it has no major warships at its disposal, Ukraine has used missiles and naval drones to inflict significant damage to the Russian Black Sea Fleet, which has long been headquartered in Sevastopol on the peninsula seized by Moscow in 2014…

Kyiv has destroyed or damaged 27 Russian naval vessels, Neizhpapa said. In May, Ukrainian authorities said they had destroyed the last Russian warship armed with cruise missiles that was stationed on the peninsula.“

You have to realize that the Russian navy has a long history of gross incompetence.

I WW 2, the Soviet (Russian) navy submarine force lost more submarines than ships they sank...

So, that the Black Seas Fleet is getting its collective ass handed to it isn't really something new or unique...

You have to realize that the Russian navy has a long history of gross incompetence.
Russians Navy, which included Ukraine at the time, has a long history of gross incompetence. We were told that Ukraine could not do better, and would in fact do worse. As it turns out, Ukraine can do better.

And that is the danger. Putin has told the Russians that Western freedoms and lifestyle is just no possible for them. If it proves possible for Ukrainians, then the Russians will start asking why not Russians, too?

Actually, Ukraine is doing about as shitty at warfare as Russia. Neither has shown much competence, and gifting the Ukrainians advanced weaponry is about as useful as giving a computer to a monkey.

Ukraine has fought off a much bigger rival, which is amazing. And Ukraine crossed a major river under extreme fire, which is also amazing.

Finland fought off Russia, among others. Ukraine isn't defeating the Russians so much as trying to survive a war of attrition they can't win. The news we get from that war typically comes only from the Ukrainian side so you should take it with a salt mine worth of skepticism.

Neutralizing the Russian navy is probably Ukraine's most noteworthy success of the war

Finland only lasted three months against the Soviets, before reaching the breaking point and negotiating away their territory.

Putin forced into humiliating Crimea retreat after Russia's Black Sea Fleet torn apart

Vladimir Putin has been forced to remove the last Russian patrol ship from the Crimea, in a major humiliation for his Black Sea Fleet.

Ukraine has successfully targeted the once-powerful fleet using a combination of water drones and missiles.

Kyiv has sunk several major ships belonging to the fleet, including its flagship the Moskva.

Now Putin has been forced to send the fleet's last patrol ship to safer waters along Russia's southern coastline.

Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesman for Ukraine's Navy said in a Facebook post: "The last patrol ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet is leaving our Crimea right now. Remember this day."

The Russian Black Sea Fleet has two patrol ships - "Ladny" and "Pytlivy".

One of them had already been sent from Sevastopol and hidden in Novorossiysk. The second one has now joined it.

Pletenchuk noted that the Russian Federation has one remaining opportunity for dominance in the Black Sea - airspace.

Except he knows it was caused by Russian leaders raping the military cofferers to self enrich all through Russian history

The Trump Republican Party want them some of that type action here

Your little Russian bot hole heart is so despondent for your motherland huh

I agree with you on the incompetence of the Russian Navy, but most of the Ukrainian Armed forces are made up of Ukrainian volunteer Freedom Fighters.

So shame on you for that comment!

The Soviets led in trying to get a negotiated peace because they were bogged down and suffering heavy losses as well as they were then stuck in invading Poland (after Germany did).

Have a nice day

the Russians have never taken good care of their ships / subs.
the submarine the Rursk is an example.
and IF Johnny Walker ( red ) hadn't sold them the secret info on the SOSUS system they wouldn't have known to shock mount their equipment in their ships / subs so we couldn't listen to them and track them.
we still could and did a good job of it but he made it harder.
Have a nice day
