Saddam's Watching South Park

I think it would be interesting to here Stone's source of information on this one but nonetheless good to know that saddam is getting a good source of comedy.:cof1:

Care, he isn't being held by the US any longer and hasn't been for some time. We simply escort him from jail and back, what happens to him is at the direction of his own government.

Yeah he is. By U.S. Marines. You think we'd trust iraqi police to guard him? LOL

"Hussein is currently being held in prison by US Marines while he stands trial on genocide charges."*

By the way, what happened to Trey Parker and Stone's show "That's My Bush!" Did it get canceled?

i'm a moderate dem, with liberal leanings...

i don't think that it is torture, but i most certainly believe it is unprofessional, immature, and not what America ''used'' to stand for...a country with class and ethics.

care:(

Care - I think you are stuck on the image thing maybe a wee bit much. We are a country with class and ethics, not used to be either. I think we can go back through history and find examples of poor judgement everywhere. Too much is being made of American image over isolated incidents!

Now I personally would make the bastard watch Family Guy, that one is much better!.....:p

care,if you knew half of what REALLY goes on behind closed doors in wars now,and past, you would probably be shocked. This is nothing compared to things that went on in Vietnam and WW2. This is just a little fun, hell he'd probably rather watch that than CNN:cof1:

You didn't actually read my post. Did you? I stated that we walk him back and forth at the direction of their government and that his treatment was at their direction not ours. It is simply the truth.

Well, you said "walking him back and forth".

Actually, they're doing more than that. They are actually holding him too. Don't get me wrong, I'm not slamming you: I wouldn't trust the iraqi police either. If saddam ever gets outside of american control, he just might have friends that would spring him.

Until he's executed, the americans will always be holding him.

He is officially one of their prisoners. His treatment is at their direction. Hence the reason he isn't behind soudproof glass with one-way sound for him to hear his trial but not participate until it is time...

I understand that "officially" he's one of their prisoners. I'm sure they allow some Iraqi guards and control of him.

But, fundamentally he's under the control of the americans. I wouldn't trust the iraqi police and just hand him over to them. Would you?

That was my point. We make sure he stays put. How he is treated, however, is up to them. Attempting to say, "This is totally not how we ever acted in ever the history of our nation!" and get all hysterical over something that isn't true to begin with. We should at least put his treatment firmly within the actual responsible party. We make sure Saddam doesn't die, we walk him back and forth, he is however not our prisoner and how he is treated is not at our discretion.

I don't care...the point is that most of us in this great land, did not know we were like this and were made to believe our whole lives that we, Americans, were above these kind of things...

And we believed these things about ourselves because, for the most part WE would never do them, we would be professional, under the circumstances.

And I did not go in to the link, I was only responding to Krisy's cute, but still nasty/cocky towards liberals, post.:clink:

Right. I agree. who cares if he watches south park. south park rules. Obviously, the thread was some lame and misguided attempt to be funny, by slamming "libs".

Damo, I don't believe that for one nano second....

we have photos of saddam in his undies that our guys took to prove it... unless you think the Iraqis ordered our marines to take those handsome undie pictures?

If you are guarding somebody there is a great chance at some point in time, if you happen to bring a camera with you, you can take pictures of them in BVDs if such is your wish. It does not however make you other than a guard. He is being held by the Iraqi Government with US Guards. His treatment, feeding, clothing, etc. is at the direction of the Iraqi government. Quit being deliberately disingenuous.

Our guys are there to make sure he lives and doesn't get away, that is it.

Care - I'm gonna be the evil dick on this one but do you think there is a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow too? I did'nt think so, you were probably equally as disappointed when ya realized it was'nt santa putting gifts under your tree but we are led to believe things somethimes that just are'nt so.

Putting that kind of standard up is only going to make it harder when ya realize it is'nt so.

Santa Claus was never meant to be real, only a means to stretch and grow children's imaginations imo.

What I have thought of my country, was real. Ideals that for the most part, any human being would follow and admire....

I admit that I have found out that my ideals and ethical standards for my government and for my country are not what I have always believed they were and that things weren't as rosey as I would have liked or thought.

Call it blissfully ignorant, perhaps...

I was at my happiest, when I lived in my little bubble and I believed that goodness would prevail...

Perhaps I grew up with a more possitive look on our country and our government and our soldiers because I was a Military Brat, and went to schools for the most part, on Military bases...I was taught perhaps, to love my country and be proud of my country's high standards because of my father being in the Service. and maybe I was brain washed to believe such by the schools I went to or by my parents.

My mother was Italian born and all I can remember every day of my life hearing from her is that I was born and lived in the GREATEST country in the world.... She is still telling me that when I complain about our government and how corrupt they seem to have become....she still tells me that no matter how bad it looks, other countries are worse off than we are, with their own governments....and to never forget that...

So yes, I have lived in a bubble, that included alot of happiness for quite a long time...and yes, that bubble has busted, it busted with shock and Awe and then with Gitmo and then with Abu Ghraib....

I am not fairing so well.... :(

care
