Or were you speaking of Metcalf? Metcalf was with several of his friends when he assaulted Anthony. I do not know if they were on his football team, but they may have been.

Saying, "touch me again, and see what happens", is not telling them to touch you. It is warning against them touching you. When that is responded to with a punch, that is called assault. And notice the "again" part of it. That means an assault had already happened.
It means stop assaulting, or something bad will happen. You have a thug hitting a Black kid screaming "niggers" are not allowed under the tent, and you are saying the thug is being "threatened"? I guess in a sense he was threatened that if he did not stop assaulting the Black kid, the Black kid would fight back... But that is a legal threat to make.
Anthony first moved away. Then he asked several times for Metcalf to just leave him alone. When punched, he gave a warning, when punched again, he retrieved his knife, and finally when Metcalf attempted to punch a third time Anthony used the knife. The entire dispute took between 10 and 15 minutes... During which Anthony repeated called for help, unfortunately no one wanted to stand up to Metcalf's gang.
10 to 15 minutes sounds like a lot of hesitation to me.
When someone is attacking you, a moral person would warn them off, which is what Anthony did.
My question is why were Metcalf's gang trying to put a beatdown on Anthony?
For 10 to 15 minutes, this group of thugs were screaming the N-word, and demanding that a spectator gets out from under a tent, and no teacher intervened? What is wrong with this school?
