This isn't about color at all...this is about a murder at a track meet...
The only people making it about color are his parents, their "representatives"...and a few people here... Two lives have been tragically ended....this can't continue to happen...So, hopefully, justice will actually prevail...
Everyone needs to understand what self defense is...but particularly young people...
This young man should have been there to run track...no need whatsoever to be armed...His father claims he was a track team captain...why wasn't he with his team? So many unanswered questions remain...it's imperative that the truth comes out...
As for self defense?
"To successfully assert self-defense, one needs to demonstrate that they were faced with an imminent threat, used a reasonable amount of force in response, and were not the initial aggressor in the situation. Essentially, the force used must be proportional to the perceived danger, and the person claiming self-defense must not have provoked the confrontation.
Key elements to prove self-defense:
Imminent threat: There must be evidence of an immediate danger of harm, not just a general feeling of unease.
Reasonable belief of danger: The person claiming self-defense must have had a reasonable belief that they were in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm.
Proportional response: The force used must be proportionate to the threat posed.
No duty to retreat (in some jurisdictions):
Not the initial aggressor: The person claiming self-defense must not have provoked the situation. " from Makrida Law firm....which is in Ohio...
