It doesn't appear so. It seems as if people pretty much expected this. It would have doomed him if both of them didn't talk about their optimism that a deal will be reached very soon, and the fact that Congress is talking about one by midnight seems to have forestalled the prediction of doom.

Had he gone there with serious and direct argument going on rather than some sort of consensus projected the doom would have been palpable.

I am a bit suprised that both sides seem to assume it is a done deal in some fashion when I don't think that most of their constituants agree with that concept or the rush to do it all now.

I more agree with what boner says on it than most I have actually heard so far. But even he is for it in some fashion.
