Slamming Clinton on NAFTA

Hey pretty soon we can cut our military Budget because the Mexicans and Chinese will make our war machines cheaper than we do.
:cheer:

My post was clearly aimed at supporting the position of another. Yours was "all trade is regulated this be bad"...

We agree. We have for a long time on NAFTA. We disagree on the position the government should take to fix it though.

fair enough.

And also concerns about national security. We will soon not be able to build a war machine like in WW2 if the need arises.

Protectionism sells out the middle class. THere has yet to be any real negative effect of NAFTA, besides a booming economy, which the turbo- Dems hate because it means they can't play on fear to get another 4 years in the office.

Trademongers are regressive. If trademongers are "progressive", as you say, then Herbert Hoover was americas greatest progressive.

There are indeed real issues with NAFTA, and that "booming economy" you speak of isn't evident to a great many.

Obama is exceptionally intelligent and I believe that he has played this issue to near perfection .. ultimately getting to a position he believes in most.

Ensuring that American workers are protected, as when tariffs were in place, is not regressive .. and most importantly, ensuring that the American people are comfortable with our trade policies is not regressive. "Free trade" that benefits Americans requires more than policy, but also good relations with the rest of the planet.
