Socialist Venezuela a Mess

"Inflation (of over 30% a year), rampant crime, electricity blackouts and deficient public services have all eroded support for his government. Mr Chávez, whose own popularity is holding up relatively well, seems unable to stop the rot.

Internationally, his standing has been affected by a number of scandals. Several top government officials have been tainted by serious corruption allegations in a trial currently under way in Miami. On September 12th Venezuela’s two most senior intelligence officers and a former interior minister were placed on a United States’ Treasury Department blacklist for allegedly collaborating with Colombian terrorists and drug-traffickers. More damning revelations are expected."

Why do you bother writing "Socialist Venezuela?" Have you been paying attention the past few weeks?

We are moving to more Socialistic solutions of government ownership, are we not? Here we have a country in Venezuela that despite a record high oil price which gives them incredible revenue is in the shithole precisely because they've went down a Socialistic route of more government ownership and oversight.

Nice try, I've always posted things that are not the issues de jour.

You also post things that are not the isuue de intelligent.

Capitalist America is teetering on the brink of disaster amd you're pointing fingers at a country where their citizens pay about 28 cents a gallon for gas?

:chesh:

Son of a bitch ..

Not pointing fingers, just using as an example or warning. I don't blame Venezuela for America's problems that's for sure.

So they get to drive their cars on cheap gas through a country that is otherwise falling apart? Wow and Nero only got to fiddle.

Inflation is up 30% in one year, how does that help the average VZ citizen. Every month their money was more than 2% worthless than it was the month before. Food rots in their refrigerators because the electricity goes out. How does that help the average citizen? I don't know if any of you ever got to go to the DDR before the fall of the wall, but that was one of the bleakest places on earth under communal living. I swear, you so much want to hate Dano for his economic and political leanings that you will pretend that things have gotten better in VZ because they pay less than 30 cents for gas.

They're not socialist. They have simply not allowed the WTO to dictate all aspects of their nation to them.

Chavez nationalized oil. We're nationalizing investment banks.

All shit stinks somewhat.

All I read is "Blah blah blah".

As you get to drive your car on expensive gas in a country that is everywise falling apart.

It appears that looking in the mirror would be far more intellectual than looking out the window.
