"Sweetie-Gate"...

So, I get in the car expecting to hear the sound of taped "heavenly hosts" accompanying many a pundit waxing rhapsodic about Edwards and his endorsement.

Instead. On the show that is almost all Obama All the time... I hear Obama's voice calling a female reporter "sweetie" and about three women talking about how condescending it was.

Not kidding.

This is what they were talking about:

“This sweetie never did get an answer to the question,’’ the reporter told her viewers on the local channel 7.

I thought there would be at least one day of singing the praises of Edwards... maybe "sweetie-gate" (An AP term, not mine) will be overcome by Edwards. But just wow.

Funny; I almost started a thread w/ the same title.

Pretty unreal that any sort of issue is being made of this at all.

I don't know. What if Edwards called a woman "sweetie" in the same manner? And 'heaven forfend' that HillBilly do it about some guy reporter... We'd never hear the end of it.

Seriously, I didn't think Edwards endorsement was going to change much, but I thought we'd have at least one day of it before something else took over. But this? Pretty sad.

Well, I wouldn't say it "took over." I saw a couple of blurbs on it; nothing major though. That's a bit of a stretch.

I was on the channel where the guy pretty much sings the praises of Barack on a daily basis. I heard a blurb or two on Edwards while this was the topic of discussion. I'd say taken over.

That's silly, and a poor argument. You'd like it to take over to "prove" that you were right about Edwards endorsement being irrelevant, but this is a blurb on the major news sites this morning, while the Edwards endorsement is a headline. The fact that one show spent some time on it doesn't really show much.

You can be so pathetic sometimes.

Not really. Even though I still think Edwards is irrelevant, that doesn't change that I thought it would lead for at least a day, nor does it make me think that the pundits wouldn't be talking about it, or him, like it was the second coming. I certainly didn't expect something like this being covered over that on a supporter's radio show.

I think it is pathetic to say, "See? There are stories about him!" to prove it was effective. That doesn't prove anything. Nor will Obama winning prove it was because of Edwards, because he already had won.

Wow, this is the first I have even heard about this, and I had CNN on this morning when I was getting dressed. I also read the NY Times, and didn’t see anything there. It was all about Edwards, and also a lot of stories about the Republicans sweating and infighting and finger pointing.

I didn’t even know about this.

I guess I will have to settle this, as the board feminist, and bitter man-hating spinster.

Barack Obama is hot. So is John Edwards. Women don’t care if hot guys call them sweetie.

Fred Thompson, John McCain and all decrepit grandpa types, calling young women sweetie is gross and has a large “ick” factor.

Ok, story over.

Uh damo, it is leading.

Sorry.

"Sweetie"?

That would be it for me, i'm afraid. I could have seen him as a potential President if he's opted for a "darling" or, at a push, "sugarplum". However, "sweetie" is a step too far.

I think i'd rather opt for "obliterating" Iran. I have a conscience, even if you people don't.

 This whole thread is irrelevant....it doesn't make a difference whether it is Hillary or Obama as the Dem primary winner...this country is not ready nor ever will be for a socialist President...we are stuck with old Man John McCain...like it or not!

Battle, if you were worth the time I would show you why you yourself could easily be called a socialist.

But you're not, so I'll just call you a socialist and leave it at that.

I didn't think the "sweetie" comment was condescending, rather it struck me as dismissive. The reporter asked a legitimate question, what does Obama intend to do to help the American auto worker. Apparently, with no real plan or answer and his desire for the UAW endorsement, he dismissed the reporter out of hand rather than answer the question.

Obama the sexist

He also claimed "I do it sometimes with all kinds of people."

What a liar.

Can anyone produce any evidence that the Saint Obama has ever called a man "sweetie"?

Imagine the furor of manufactured outrage we'd hear from the left if any white candidate told a Black reporter "Hold on one second, boy (or girl).

He called me a sweetie last night.

Consider yourself refuted.
