World Hijab Day was 'proudly' celebrated in New York City, organized by the New York Police Department (NYPD). The 4th Annual World Hijab Day event, hosted by NYPD Community Affairs in collaboration with community partners, was a meaningful demonstration of unity, faith, and inclusion.
The 'celebration' was especially interesting as NYPD officers were seen proudly wearing the hijab, reflecting their ability to practice their faith while continuing to serve and protect their communities. Seems somehow counter-intuitive to me.
