"Perception is everything" we are taught in psych classes and in nursing school. I imagine that even fake "teachers" were taught this as well. If the team members themselves -- as evidenced by statements of the team captain -- felt that the comment was demeaning, then it was. Toxic can scream all she wants -- and has for days on end now -- that it wasn't demeaning. The only thing that matters is what the targets of that comment think of it.
