Why do they hate themselves so much?

My Aunt's (lesbian) partner of 30 years was a Republican. She said the same thing to me that many of the gay Republican men did, they disagree with Republicans on their view towards gay rights but on the whole they agree with the Republican philosophy more than the Democratic one.

I never sensed any real self hate in any of the folks I spent time with.
