But even had he gone alone, I guarentee there was a press release in the McCain camp that denounced him for visiting the troops during a campaign trip, which is what this was from the moment it left Jordan. McCain's camp was going to politicize it NO MATTER WHAT. Just like they did when he decided to go to Iraq, AFTER they challenged him to go. ONly they wanted him to go with McCain and not Chuck Hegel.

funny, but as someone else mentioned, they did not try to politicize his visiting troops in Kuwait earlier in the trip. why? Could it be because he went alone and no one gave a shit? Just curious.

No because the trip to Kuwait was a congressional fact finding junket and NOT part of the campaign. Until Jordan the cost was picked up by Congress. Attacking him for that would have been too stupid even by republican attack dog standards.

It's irrelevant that he did go visit the troops in Bagdhad? As Republican Chuck Hagel, who was on the trip and visited the troops with Obama, has said, this is extremely inappropriate and McCain needs to cut out these lies, now.
