You make a good point. Compared to the Civil War era were hardly polarized at all. Be that as it may, that doesn't mean we shouldn't consider the warnings that Washington gives us in his farewell address.

Thank you, I teach middle school. The ancient documents are very good also. Hard for the 6th graders to understand for the most part. I've a passion for the political philosophy underlying the Constitution, when kids understand that, they understand the system.
