There is no such thing as a perjury trap. If you don't lie under oath, you can never be charged with perjury.
People that claim they were trapped into perjury are people that lied and were caught. In the case of Weisselberg, he claimed under oath he never spent any time or thought on the valuation of Trump's triplex. But then the emails showed up with him spending time and thought on the valuation of Trump's triplex.
The interesting part of the perjury case is that the documents that showed Weisselberg lied were subpoenaed and supposed to be turned over months ago and they weren't. There may end up being more to this case in that lawyers or Trump failed to properly respond to a lawful subpoena.
