"FORMER US president Donald Trump, his companies, and some executives have been found to have fraudulently inflated the valuations of non-existent Scottish golf club properties by up to £200 million.

The Herald reports this was part of a scheme to dupe banks and to borrow more at lower rates.

It comes as it emerged the Aberdeen club’s operating company has run at a deficit since it opened in 2012 and has amassed total losses of more than £13 million in the ensuing 11 years."

?????? How the hell do you boost the value of a property that DOES NOT EXIST?????

On the way out of the Whitehouse, Bannon said Trump's biggest problem was money laundering.

Starting a business and then bankrupting it while walking away richer seems to be Trump’s M.O. Why would anyone except money launderers “invest” with him?

..
Terry do you maintain your position that despite Trump lying about the value and inflating it from $82MM to $217MM and lying and saying 2500 homes were already built on the land, when ZERo were and only 500 could be built via the permit, that no gov't authority should be able to prosecute on this?

I want you to assume the loans were turned down by the bank, but they gave all the paper work over to a prosecutor as they knew the property from prior diligence, and knew it was not developed.

Do you argue any charges would be wrong and not what is done EVER, as long as the loan is rejected and no one suffers any loss? that a 'documents fraud' charge is not applicable?

Yep. Banks need to do due diligence and in Trump's case they did. Now, if he had repeatedly bilked banks out of millions and didn't repay them, different story. Government has ZERO business getting involved in what amounts to a private contract between two parties that was successfully completed to the satisfaction of both parties. ZERO.

What you are asking for is government to step in as a arbitrary and authoritarian arbiter of private contracts that can determine if they are acceptable to the government and if not, the government can enrich itself to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars it did nothing to deserve. Government isn't the font of wisdom, it is a crude bludgeon staffed by morons. Who are they to say what property values are or aren't on some arbitrary basis? There was clearly a meeting of the minds between the banks and Trump, and he paid back the loans in full. End of story. GOVERNMENT HAS NO ROLE IN A LEGAL PRIVATE CONTRACT THAT WAS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED BETWEEN TWO PARTIES TO BOTH'S SATISFACTION--NONE!

It's like basing fines for civil law violations on wealth while at the same time not requiring government to show any sort of harm or damages that resulted. What you want is essentially a "speed trap" where the judge rules you libel before you can say anything in your own defense and then charges you a fine based on your net wealth and ability to pay. Pay the speeding ticket! Because you're worth millions, your fine is $500,000...
