The comments by Vassily Nebenzia, Russia’s United Nations ambassador, come as Donald Trump has repeatedly said he can settle the war between Russia and Ukraine in one day if he’s elected president again.

Basically put, trump thinks Ukraine is so weak he can threaten them into surrendering. Ukraine is stronger than that, and more determined than that. trump can cutoff aid, but Ukraine would continue fighting for years.

Putin has been offered many off ramps. He cannot accept them.

Loosing American aid would seriously weaken Ukraine's strategic position against Putin. If the leader of NATO throws Ukraine to the wolves, how long will it be before France, Netherlands, Czech Republic decide they should dial back support of Ukraine? American leadership still matters.
