Trump Goes Off The Rails In Midnight Attack On 'Highly Overrated Jewish Governor'

Guno צְבִי

We fight, We win
Donald Trump fired off an angry middle-of-the-night attack on “highly overrated Jewish Governor” Josh Shapiro after he spoke out against the former president at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night.

Trump said Shapiro ― who, as Pennsylvania’s governor, has no foreign policy role ― “has done nothing for Israel and never will.”

He also claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris “hates Israel” and hopes “that it will fail.”

Critics slammed the former president for a post many said was brimming with antisemitism:

Trump thinks Jewish people only care about Israel, he doesn't see them as Americans who care about healthcare, pro-choice, gun control, etc.

I know it's passé to think Trump's rhetoric matters, but Trump has said multiple obviously antisemitic things over the years, including just now. Imagine if a Democrat started a screed by referring to someone as that "overrated Jewish Governor." It would be headline news.

This is NOT a defense of Trump per se but it is speaking to political reality. It's election season. Politicians don't see us as 'whole people' they see us as votes. We can try and romantically think otherwise but that's just fooling ourselves.

Trump knows he's not going to win the overall Jewish vote. What he is clearly doing is attempting to get the votes of Jews who may lean left but are strong supporters of Israel and might be willing to vote based on who he/she perceives is best towards Israel.

It's quite possible Trump doesn't get those Jewish votes he's targeting, and losses others based on the way he goes about it. We'll ultimately find out after the election. But that clearly seems to be the strategy here.

Trump is angry that 70 percent of Jewish Americans vote Democratic and have for decades.

Trump has a shtick he uses and uses on anyone who dares to differ with him. They are all stupid. They are working for a failing organization that is going broke. They are ill. They are corrupt. Trump is such a low-level troll. Same boring song and dance.

That's a good analysis, thanks.

Trump's got some scary people working on his campaign. There is no way he could have ever conceived of something both this blatant and this subtle by himself.

Trump should know by now that a high percentage of American Jews don't give a hoot about Israel. He's wasting his time and political capital.

Guano, you might ask yourself why Heels Up Harris did not choose Shapiro as her VP pick.

He's decomposing before our eyes.

So being antisemitic is okay if you’re going for votes. Got it. Same with anti women, anti immigrant, anti labor, anti LGBTQ. Heck all is forgiven then. Regardless of what you opened with it IS a defense of Trump. It’s like opening with ‘no offense intended but…’. That might be the most insulting thing you’ve EVER posted.

It doesn't matter to his "base" and the sycophantic media base. His 2016 projection of what he could get away with is ringing true.

I surmise that what you say here was what Dump's handlers are plotting as a spin, because Dump just flies off the cuff constantly revealing what a vile POS he is.

No, that is not what I'm saying - at all.

This is the line I responded to: "Trump thinks Jewish people only care about Israel, he doesn't see them as Americans who care about healthcare, pro-choice, gun control, etc."

Re-read what I wrote again in that context. He's going after those voters for whom Israel is at the top of the list in hopes to picking off some. That's politics. When Kamala Harris is trying to win over Republican voters do you think she's talking about issues? No, she's talking about their dislike of Trump. When I was young and out of school I belonged to center-right leaning tech group in SF. When Newsom was running for Mayor he came and spoke to us and of course he focused on the areas that he thought would appeal to us most - which makes total sense. In such an environment why focus on the area's of differences?

My reference to Trump not getting the Jewish votes he's targeting but also losing some is in regard's to his comment, calling Shapiro a Jewish Governor. It's one thing to focus on Israel it's another to speak in the way he did.

The MAGATs love this stuff. They despise American Jews. The Jews in Israel are okay because they're far away and can't vote here. A MAGAT could never live in Israel -- too socialist, they allow abortion, they expect ppl to either serve in the military or otherwise serve their nation.
