since i've been posting on boards, a few years and really only got into politics a few years ago, i keep seeing a recurring theme.....what type of government is this program, this philosophy, this agenda.....this war....etc...

the US does not have true capitalism, doesn't have true socialism, doesn't have true communism and so forth.

when a repub runs, libs scream big money and how they hate they hate the poor, though never offering what type of government this is, except to say....capitalism or a new one i read, corporatism.....which i don't see how that is any different than capitalism....

when a lib runs for office, the screams are of socialism, communism etc.....

we have unemployment, social security, medicare, disability etc.....both parties seem to fight over them and both claim their right.....and now healthcare....

what ism are these programs?

what ism are these programs?

unemployment, social security, medicare, disability?

unemployment insurance is a program (paid into by those that are working) of compassion to help those that are in need of Temporary assistance

social security, medicare, disability are programs of compassion (paid into by those working) to assist those that can no longer totally care for themselves

healthcare will be a new program to gain control over the lives of the entire population and make us ALL beholden to government.....and will be paid for by heavy taxes on individuals and business until the burden finally overwhelms the nation....as it certainly will...

Federal and state unemployment is paid by the employer.

Zorastrian Theocracy.

In zoroastrianism, "good" is that which causes the people to grow and thrive. it's the best home I've found for a New Age Populism.

I have asked a million times why Americans have to use hyperbole. One of the things that clouds these issues from we lesser mortals who are forced to forgo the pleasures of living in a gun totin, failing state, is the way Americans insist on redefining the accepted meanings of words for, mainly, political purposes.
So lets get back to the internationally accepted definitions.
Liberal = a member of a political party favouring moderate reform. Sounds a bit like the US Democrats to me. GoodCommunism = a social system based on the common ownership of property and the means of production. Doesn't exist anywhere in the world at present.Capitalism = system where trade and production are controlled by private owners. Most societies have a preponderence of this. Good to a point.
Fascism = a system of extreme right wing dictatorship. America under the pea-brained, PNACkered Bush.Socialism = system where resources, industry and transport are owned by the state. Few examples exist unless they are incorporated within one of the other systems.
So my fellow Liberals, don't take this half-brain, right wing crap that Liberals are akin to communists or socialists. Those people are simply examples of a system (their own capitalist system) that has failed them and they are too chicken shit scared to admit it. Well, can't go against the patriot act, can they?

You said communism was GROUP ownership of property and means of production and that socialism was GOVERNMENT ownership of the same.

Isn't GROUP ownership actually defacto GOVERNMENT ownership? If so, what's really the difference between socialism and communism? Or are you just dum?

I am not sure true communism has a government. That is why it has never existed outside of very small groups.

OED definitions.

The USSR (the second S is for socialist) was not anywhere near true communism. Only ingorant right wingers confuse that point.

Hippy communes are the closest thing I know of to true communism.
Early Christians and early man for that matter, you shared everything.
