I feel empathy. I have just learned that the world is full of pain, suffering & death. If you focus on that, you spend your life in misery.

I am responsible for the pain I cause. I take responsibility for my actions (or actions).

No you don't, because you're actions have repercussions far beyond anything you'll ever be able to see and you just shrug that aside as if it didn't matter.
 
Conservatives are fallacious because they will minimize any personal responsibility they have to nilch, they will deal out retribution to others knowing full and well there will be no benefit to society from it, and they believe in collective responsibility when it suits them (like whenever Sol believes it's appropriate to rip apart innocent women and children because of their government). Personal responsibility is nothing but a lie whenever a conservative mentions it, and always a fallacy. Therefore, it should be ignored, and we should design policies depending on maximum benefit, and not some conservative fallacy that they use to bypass logic.

And while we are at it, neither do you. The difference is that you CLAIM to be better than someone else because of some grand awareness. But since you do nothing too, you are no better.

WM, its not a matter of shrugging anything off. If you feel the pain of every tragedy in the world, then pain is all you feel. I simply choose not to make every pain my personal pain.

The list of people who matter in my life gets shorter every year. But the people on that list matter more and more.


But tell me, what is it that you do that makes such a difference? Do you relieve any of the pain? Or do you simply claim that by sharing it you somehow help?

What a load of horseshit! Conservatives are no different than liberals in that respect. Liberals don't make anyone take responsibility except wealthy white men. And actually, they blame wealthy white men for the actions of everyone else. Any minority gets a free pass because of what the wealthy white men did.
 
Missing the point willfully is not virtuous.

What this picture shows is the human cost of wars. The cost to the individual. The death that is shown here is one dead, one agonizing about the death, a gun in the distance..

Hopefully you run into a dead end justifying it. That way, we'll know that you have warm blood.
