That's only at the beginning.
Thereafter it degenerates into what exists now in Venezuela. There really are no more "stores", and nobody has any money anyway, so food is now a bartered commodity. People with a few extra limones go to a bartering point and look for people who want lemons to see what they might have to offer, perhaps some eggs, maybe some milk.
As hunger continues, people without food will barter everything else. Prostitution will increase dramatically.
