What Song Are You Listening To, Right Now?

You're most welcome!

I came across him while browsing youtube about two years ago. It was NPR's Tiny Desk Concert. I've been hooked on his music ever since.

That's how I discovered Junior Brown (the video I just posted), on NPR, lol. Definitely gonna look for more of Fantistic Negrito.

They are! They had a brother/sister pair of them at the bird sanctuary where I used to volunteer. We could play with them when we cleaned their enclosure.

Nice! I must tell you I am green with envy that you got to play with the baby battys, ha!

After I finish renovating my mom's house, I'm thinking of putting up a couple of bat boxes after I move in.

That was pretty good, considering it's not a genre I listen to. I am a big Patsy Cline fan though.

I'm sure you'll enjoy all the Fantastic Negrito you find!

Yeah, but spiders in the attic!!! I can't go up there, lol.

I understand. Why we had to move:

Junior has a kind of unique sound with a lot of ole timey influences. But his prowess on the guitar is definitely not in question, no matter what genre you listen to. When I first heard of him on NPR (over 20 years ago) it was a segment lamenting how he never got the recognition he deserved. The guy is a virtuoso on guitar, and that rig he plays is his own invention. He calls it the "guit-steel", it's a hybrid electric guitar, and steel slide. I had the good fortune to see him at a free concert in Cleveland many years ago. He opened for a new talent at the time, Toby Keith (who I had never heard of), and I remember a bunch of Toby Keith's stage hands watching him play in utter amazement.

Wow! Thanks for the info on Junior! I will definitely look for more of his music on youtube and see if I can find his music on CDs (yeah, I know, CDs, old school, ha).

This is the best thing about this thread, we get to listen to music we've never heard before, all because of sharing what we like/love/enjoy!

You consider me the young apprentice
Caught between the Scylla and Charibdes
Hypnotized by you if I should linger
Staring at the ring around your finger
I have only come here seeking knowledge
Things they would not teach me of in college
I can see the destiny you sold turned into a shining band of gold
I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger
Mephistopheles is not your name
I know what you're up to just the same
I will listen hard to your tuition
You will see it come to its fruition
I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger
Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
Vanish in the air you'll never find me
I will turn your face to alabaster
When you'll find your servant is your master
You'll be wrapped around my finger
You'll be wrapped around my finger
You'll be wrapped around my finger
