Seventeen is below the age of consent in Florida?

I don't need accounts of sexual indiscretions to hate Matt Gaetz.
He has one of the most punchable faces I've ever seen.

The age of consent is 18. The Romeo and Juliet provision allows a person 16-17 to have consensual sex with a person under 24.
 
It is ironic, but trying to find a technicality around a criminal law is often proof of intent to break the law. Gaetz figured out all sorts of ways to "plausibly deny" he knew he moved minors over international lines. A campaign contributor gave her money to buy her own plane ticket... It is still against the law, and he just handed prosecution intent.

Here in Massachusetts, the age of consent is sixteen,
or at least it was many decades ago when I needed to be concerned about it.

But, you can’t transport them across state lines and Gaetz was older than 23 when this allegedly happened.

Just to be clear, Gaetz is 41 years old, so has no business having sex with a 17 year old.

Not just state lines, but also international lines. International lines are also considered state lines, but with the added point that he can be charged with human trafficking.

IDK. It's real close between him and Mike Johnson. I wouldn't mind tying them both up and beat the daylights out of them until they acknowledge the earth is not 6000 years old, but millions.
Personally I'd prefer to punch Johnson in the face. Holding up the vote in helping Ukraine is the tie breaker between those two.
Aside: Can somebody explain what is so important about keeping the Speakership to the point of allowing a country to fall to Russia? It's not like this putz's career will end. He'll never get past being a congressman politically. He's from north Louisiana, ffs. That's the Bible Belt. Those young earthers will continue to elect him.

Child molesters like to isolate the victims. So they will take them across state lines, to somewhere the children know no one. Or they even take the victims to a foreign country, where the children do not speak the language, and cannot trust the police.

In fairness to Gaetz, he appeared mostly just interested in hiding the children he was abusing, and not isolating them. It is odd to say, but he never considered the situation where they would turn him in. And he enjoyed going through them quickly.
