Judge revokes Zimmerman's bond

(CNN) -- A Florida judge revoked bond Friday for George Zimmerman, who is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin.
Seminole County Circuit Court Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. ordered Zimmerman to surrender within 48 hours.

Lester accused Zimmerman of having misrepresented how much money he had when his bond was originally set in April.
The decision came after prosecutors asked Lester to revoke the bond.

Prosecutors argued that Zimmerman "misrepresented, misled and deceived the court" during the April bond hearing not only about his family's financial circumstances but about whether he had a U.S. passport.

Lester appeared to accept the explanation from Zimmerman's lawyer that his client had given him a second passport that he had obtained, but that the lawyer simply forgot to hand it over to authorities until Friday.

Why should his personal finances matter? I'm pretty sure he has a cnstitutional right to a reasonable bond.

I don't know the legal issue, but I would believe bond is set in accordance with how much you have to lose if you skip bail. The issue is both Zimmerman and his wife lied to the court. They knew bout the PayPal account and didn't mention it.

Maybe, one of our lawyers can give a better answer than mine.

He does, but personal finances matter because the issue is, what amount of bond is reasonable necessary to ensure that he does not run. A larger bond is necessary for a wealthier person.

So will his bail be re-set or does he stay behind bars ?

He certainly DIDN'T run on the smaller bail....so something doesn't make sense....

Thanks, Jarod, that is what I thought.

Bravs has a big stake in this one. Chance of obfuscation is at level orange right now (using the terrorism scale; it's 2:1 if you're using Kentucky Derby odds)....

So I asked you a question and you responded with a question about something Jarod posted.

Diversion.

To answer your question (which I took as rhetorical)

I'm not 'worried' about anything....feel better now ?

What do I have at stake.....my ties to the Hispanic community ?

Zim sitting jail doesn't bother me in the least....

It appears that he lied about his finiances and a second passport. the lie about the money impacts the bail amount that was set.

Thats why I asked Jarod, "will the bail be re-set" to a higher amount.....he did surrender the second passport and his lawyer didn't turn it in....that should not be an issue, and according to the article, it isn't.
Then the snipers attacked....

His second passport was not surrendered to the court as reqquired.
Who is at fault for that? Zimmerman ultimately.

Watch that spelling, we have a onecelled spelling/grammar/punctuation Nazi on board...

Zimmerman's "family members misinformed the court (the state would use a much stronger and accurate word to describe what occurred -- defendant's wife lied to the court) about defendant and his family's finances.

Judge Lester appeared to accept the explanation from Zimmerman's lawyer that his client had given him the second passport, and the lawyer simply forgot to hand it over to authorities until Friday.

looks like his own lawyer and his family put him back in jail......how bad is that ?

Too much conflicting information......hope the trial is on tv like OJ's.....
