This might be a better indication of a Romney presidency, he tried to overturn affirmative action policies to go back to "Irish affirmative action" that had been in place for many decades.

Massachusetts government for decades has been a patronage haven for well-connected family members and friends of state lawmakers. The informal system of doling out state job spoils was dubbed "Irish affirmative action" in a nod to the powerful sway Irish-American pols in particular have long enjoyed on Beacon Hill.

not sure what that has to do with his alleged corporate raider status you give him. my take on it is....he thought he had a good idea, to get rid of affirmative action (which i agree with)....then the idea did not sit well with the citizens, so he back tracked. nothing new. all politicians do this. the fact he back tracked because that it was the people wanted shows he cares about what people want.

if he didn't care, he would have simply bulldozed over them. but he listened.

i'm not sure that there is a pattern of behavior like that at all. when i was younger i was different than i am now. it seems to me you're judging romney on allegations of certain behavior that occurred when he was young. do you judge obama on his behavior during the same age? cocaine.....etc....

as to the swift boat, i vaguely recall the controversy. TBO, i wasn't that interested in politics back then. iirc, the stories were found out to be false.

The main point is that there wasn't true equality in Massachusetts but a highly organised network of Oirish politicos who carved things up between themselves. Sounds very similar to what happens on Wall Street.
