Tens of millions of white, working-class, aging men out there know it, and they’re anxious.

During the recent, particularly ugly South Carolina primary, Mitt Romney himself was booed at one debate, after one questioner pointed out that his family came here from Mexico.

In states throughout the South, Southwest, and Midwest, conservative politicians have exploited this anxiety to push demagogic laws and win elections.

Jan Brewer, the allegedly conscious governor of Arizona, most famously won her post by championing the state’s new law that empowers police officers to demand proof of citizenship of almost anyone at any time.

As the demographics of the nation changes and the voters vote more and more for liberal Democrats and to fill their own greedy pockets

from the fruits and labor of a dwindling population of responsible workers and businesses.....we will all die as a viable

economic and world power.

There will be no going back and no second chance.....the elite minority, (as in a very small number) will flourish and rank and file peons will suffer

I was going to groan at all the posts but then I decided to try to explain this.


Conservative voters tend to be older than liberal voters, they want to hang on to what they believe to work. They don't want to change, hence the term conserve. Over time Liberals tend to start swinging to conservatives as the liberal party moves forward more than they are comfortable with. They may be all for religious freedom and interracial marriage but are less happy with gay marriage and abortion. Conservatives aren't a dying breed any more than liberals are, they just occupy a different portion of the population.


That being said. Rather stupid thread.

Any label is rarely 'representative'. Neocons aren't conservatives, as witnessed by the 'drunken sailor' spending binge during Bush's reign.

Obama doesn't fit any of the labels that he's been given, especially when you consider that many of his proposals include republican pet issues.

There's no need to worry about the conservative demographic. True, many of them are old/deluded racists. Many are young/deluded racists.

But, there are plenty of people with actual 'liberal' mindset, that vote republican because it's better for their short term portfolio.

People certainly do change over time but the point here is valid. Republicans have used the southern strategy to gain the vote of working class white voters but in the process have alienated large swaths of other demographics and have made little or no effort to expand into those demographics which are growing while the angry white guy demograpich continues to decline.

i must be the exception to your rule - i started out conservative and evolved to a social progressive - i am now 67
