He should have gotten off his ass and acted years before he did. Reagan made the same mistake that this idiot Granule is making. He equated HIV/AIDS with behavior he didn't approve of. Gay and promiscious sex and so instead of bringing the resources of the federal government to bear he did nothing. From 1981 to 1987 he didn't do a GOD DAMNED THING. He not only didn't do anything he never even mentioned it. The end result was that this silence and inaction permited a deadly communcable disease to spread to epidemic proportions. By 1987 over 40,000 people had died from HIV AIDS. Many of whom could possibly be alive today had the resources of the Federal Government been brought to bear to halt the spread of this terrible disease. Instead.....Reagan did nothing. He said not a thing and he did not use his executive authority to address a very serious public health threat that killed many thousands of people. Had Reagan had the moral courage to act at the beginning of the epidemic many people would probably be alive today who succumbed to this terrible disease. Instead Reagan did nothing until July of 1987 When he created a national commision on AIDS. To Reagans credit when it was finally drummed into his head that this was not Gods retribution on Gays but an opportunistic infection that could and did kill indiscrimenently and had grown to epidemic proportions he finally acted. When he finally realized this he brought the full resources of the Federal Government to bear but his lack of moral courage in addressing this epidimic in its formative stage cost many thousands of peoples their lives and for this Reagan emminently deserves to be criticized.

First, there is zero evidence that proves I'm "blatantly ignorant" about homosexuals, rabid imaginations from the Left, aside. I said I wouldn't be surprised if AIDS was sent to punish sinners. Quite the revisionist history. Unfortunately for you the truth is out there. Could Reagan have acted more forcefully or done more? absolutely. But to claim he did nothing is a joke.

It was in 1985 that he first mentioned it publicly... so your claim that he didn't mention it until after 87 is false.
the 1986 budget (put forth in 1985) contained a half a billion for R&D on AIDS... so your claim he did nothing is false
It was in 1984 that the French first isolated what they thought was the virus that caused AIDS
In 1985 the Reagan admin gave licenses to the big pharma companies to develop a blood test for that virus.

Please show us where Reagan thought it was Gods retribution on gays...

On the communication front Reagan certainly could have done a lot more. But the revisionist history of yours needs to stop. I know you expected Reagan to have an answer before he actually knew what he was dealing with. I know you expected the cure before they even knew what was causing it. But here in reality, we realize that just isn't a plausible scenario.

Dude, that's the whole fucking point. 5, 6 or 7 years before he acted? That was reprehensible and he emininently deserves criticism for the delay and inaction on his part in regards to AIDS.

No Mutt... not 5,6, or 7 years. You cannot even read. If he first addressed it in 1985 publicly... that is four years. The funding started in 1982 and continued escalating as more information became known. Again, he could have done more once it was known how it was transferred. But you want to pretend that people knew what it was or how to respond. You keep saying he didn't act... when what you mean is 'he didn't run around like a chicken with his head cut off proclaiming the sky is falling!'.

Walk us through what the world knew and when it knew it Dung... then tell us what he should have done at the different intervals.
