Making sure dead people and illegal immigrants won't vote is bad news for Obama.
Knock yourself out, Breitbart.

Making sure dead people and illegal immigrants won't vote is bad news for Obama.

I recall the campaign JFK vs. Nixon, a LOT of questions asked by the press "will the Vatican guide you" and such. He answered..see if i can recall.. something along the lines of "my religion is my personal belief; i swear to uphold the Constitution as President " ( paraphrased).
This was a BIG deal, JFK parried the point until it wasn't . There is no religious test for office, judging Romeny by his religion, is simply wrong headed.
IMHO -also goes againt the founders thoughts -as expressed in the 1st Amendment.
Judge him by his idiotic positions "we 're not tough enough on Iran" etc. They're loony tunes enough.
You'd have to show me a direct quote, where Romney says his religion would be an influence on his governing.JFK made it clear that the Constitution will trump his personal beliefs as regards to the office of the president and its duties.
*Real* Christian politicians brag about how God's laws guides them and supercedes everything, including the Constitution. Kinda like how Islam is the rule of law Iran. No thank you.
Mitt's great grandparents moved to a Mormon colony in Mexico in order to practice polygamy. Neither Mitt's grandfather nor father were polygamous. Do you believe this information is relevant to the election, or reflective of Mitt's character in any way?

I agree the Christian fundie types are always trying to bring religion into politics; but that's thru legislation, or interpretation - the Executive doesn't legislate.
With the exception of signing statements and so forth. Nothing that I know of said by Romney indicates his religion will trump/override/influence his Office.
Just my opinion, i respect yours, but i'd prefer to judge him and other 3rd partys on their campaign ideas, vs. Obama's record as POTUS.
Shhh....let him *have* his pretend little gotcha. After the ass-reaming he's been getting, every time he brings his girly drama here, it's the very least we can do.![]()
I know, I just had the unstoppable urge to respond to him in all caps and exclamation points.![]()
you're using a religious test for office......simply that...with nothing to back it up. It's your vote, and you can do as you please, but i reject your premise. And that's fine, I respect your opinion, too. I don't need a quote from Romney. The fact that he's chosen the whacko faith that he has, coupled with his sociopathy, renders him unfit, end of story. It doesn't matter what he says or how often he says it.
http://www.adherents.com/people/pc/Jimmy_Carter.htmlCarter is widely regarded as the first openly Born Again president, and perhaps the most Evangelical president in U.S. history. He is an active Sunday School teacher and has written inspirational Christian books.
Carter attended First Baptist Church in Washington D.C. while he was President.
Carter is considered by most historians to be the first formally Evangelical/self-declared Born Again president. Carter was long associated with the Southern Baptist Convention, and was a Southern Baptist while in office. Although he remained a devout Baptist, he renounced his association with the Southern Baptist Convention in October 2000.

Now how did carter's evangelicism influence his POTUS? I'd argue it didn't, but it does influence his behavior afterwards - it's part of is life( building all those needy homes, and he still makes moral statements). I guess it depends if you think Romney's religion would influence his governing - i just don't see any evidence.

Although he's crazier(ideas) then a shit house rat, i don't see it as a religous tie in.
I haven't seen too many complaints about Harry Reid being unfit for his position because of his Morminism and being Senate Majority Leader is a pretty powerful position. My guess is those who claim they don't like Romney because he is a Mormon would hold the exact same feelings about him and his policy positions if he weren't a Mormon.
LOL I agree with your analysis of "wackyness", and the need to proclaim a god based faith. Being Buddhist -it's just all noise to me - maybe why i don't take in "revelation religions" of any kind.Yes, it's my vote, based on my discernment of the available choices. Some religions are whackier than others. Mormonism's way up there on the 'whacko' list, right under Scientology. In the United States of Jesus, it's political-career suicide NOT to believe in God, so the vast majority of them are some flavour of Christian. Being a casual-consumer Christian is what Obama is. It's what most of them are. They need to say they have faith to placate the great unwashed. Romney's not of that ilk. He's proud of being faithful to whackoism. That's one of the main reasons why his own party's having a tough time embracing him.
I have no idea and I have no quarrel with Carter's leadership; I was 14 when he was president.

His Party is another story, they ARE influenced by the fundamentalist evangelicals ( although i read there is a new breed...ah forget it.. not worth "the google").
If you want to tie in the Republican party en toto - as heavily influenced by religion, i'd agree 100% with you.
Where we disagree is "will it effect his governing" -hopefully we won't have to find out. Romney is another "American Exceptionalist" prolly worse then Obama.
Reid shows no signs of religion influencing what bills are brought up ( part of his duty as Majority Leader), nor his votes.I haven't seen too many complaints about Harry Reid being unfit for his position because of his Morminism and being Senate Majority Leader is a pretty powerful position. He does scream more hawkish ideas - but Obomber has done more then his fair share of "American Exceptionalism"Romney is much worse than Obama; he's already demonstrated it for us.

As far as dead people are concerned those opposing them are corpse-ists. Or would that be anti-cadaver-ites?![]()

I don't see it in Romney either,,,,but Romney hasn't really said much of anything..i have no clue about his platform//i guess we'll find out soon enough.

And the Judas Kiss of his true pastor
When you put your faith in a man, you often get a liar.
