So Mitt Didn't Leave Bain in 1999 After All

He's either lying to the public and in his financial disclosure forms right now or he lied to the SEC back then:

Government documents filed by Mitt Romney and Bain Capital say Romney remained chief executive and chairman of the firm three years beyond the date he said he ceded control, even creating five new investment partnerships during that time.

Romney has said he left Bain in 1999 to lead the winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, ending his role in the company. But public Securities and Exchange Commission documents filed later by Bain Capital state he remained the firm’s “sole stockholder, chairman of the board, chief executive officer, and president.”

Also, a Massachusetts financial disclosure form Romney filed in 2003 states that he still owned 100 percent of Bain Capital in 2002. And Romney’s state financial disclosure forms indicate he earned at least $100,000 as a Bain “executive” in 2001 and 2002, separate from investment earnings.

The timing of Romney’s departure from Bain is a key point of contention because he has said his resignation in February 1999 meant he was not responsible for Bain Capital companies that went bankrupt or laid off workers after that date.

Romney did not finalize a severance agreement with Bain until 2002, a 10-year deal with undisclosed terms that was retroactive to 1999. It expired in 2009.

Interesting.

I'm sure it's just a clerical error, like that time he listed his Park City home as his primary residence to pay lower taxes on it and which would have prevented him from running for governor of Mass.

By the way, this is what Mitt said in his financial disclosure form:

Mr. Romney retired from Bain Capital on February 11, 1999 to head the Salt Lake Organizing Committee. Since February 11, 1999, Mr. Romney has not had any active role with any Bain Capital entity and has not been involved in the operations of any Bain Capital entity in any way.

Turns out it's not true.

This is the second "mistake" that Mitt made on these forms. Last time he forgot about that Swiss bank account.

I posted in length about this somewhere else on here. I'll try to find it but right now all I have is the notsosmart phone.

It appears he is less than honest about his finances. Imagine what would be discovered if he released all of those missing tax returns...

This is simple, if there is some discrepancy, Im sure Romney will simply release his tax returns from that time period and it will all be cleared up...!

I bet yurt never comments on it. If the internet could be made 3 dimensional we would see yurt running past this thread with his hands over his eyes.

why are you talking about me so much? i told you i'm not into you. and please stop sending me PM's.

thanks.

Here is the SF Chronicle's version of events.

So when DID Mitt Romney leave Bain….?

But the independent fact-checkers like the Washington Post’s Fact-checker and Factcheck.org weren’t budging from taking Romney’s side on this one Thursday:

“We would reassess our judgment should somebody come up with evidence that Romney took part in specific management decisions or had any active role (not just a title) at Bain after he left to head the Olympics. But nothing we’ve seen directly contradicts Romney’s statements — which he has certified as true under pain of federal prosecution — that he “has not had any active role” with Bain or “been involved in the operations” of Bain since then.”

ooooooops

poor onceler and darla

Ok. So he filed false documents with the SEC. Works for me!

Ouch!

Qoute: The Huffington Post reported on Thursday that,as he prepared to run for governor of Massachusetts in 2002, Romney suddenly had an interest in showing that he WAS involved in Bain business from 1999 to 2002. In a lawsuit filed by Democrats seeking to question his residency,Romney said that he had worked closely on trips back to Boston with at least one Bain-owned company,LifeLike Corp.,and had gone to board meetings for Staples and Marriott.

mittens seems to have a problem with telling the truth

also, he does not want his financial dealings examined

neither does he want to divulge details of his potential policies

the only thing that he has going for him is that he is the anti-obama

oh well
