The Ideal Political Party

some of mine:

stay out of people's social lives when their lives do not effect others. for example - support gay marriage, allow polygamy, but not underage sex etc..

lower the age of majority from 18 to 16.

fiscal responsibility. if you lower taxes, lower spending. stop coddling the rich and allow a tax increase on those making over 400K a year.

expand medicare by taking away the age requirement. repeal obamacare.

make it impossible to raid SS in order to "borrow" funds

abolish politcal partys, they are nothing butr self serving for career politicians.
Partisianship is bad enough - an "attachment" as Buddhists would say, the level of hyperpartisianship ensures gridlock, and party before policy.

I dumped mine -will you do the same, and declare your independence from the duopoly ???
afterall DC functions so well, :palm: more gridlock then the capitol beltway

so you would have everyone be completely independent? i don't see how that is possible. alliances would be formed etc....

i didn't bump the thread, i gave my answer in a separate post to keep the OP clean.

tell us gator...what is your ideal political party?

There is no such thing as an "ideal political party" and I never expect perfection when pragmatism works better in the real world. I support the Democratic Party I guess for my own selfish reasons and for the greater good of my most beloved country.

then the dem party is in fact your ideal party. thanks.

No, they are not but they do represent me and most of my ideals better than any viable alternative at this time. I was once a Republican. Man, was I ever confused.

Polygamy would have to carry a provison that the "husband" has to provide all the support and can't go and file for Government assistance.

well my IDEAL political "no party" is what I said. None.\ I'm aware of how partys started even under Washington, even as he specifically warned us
( Farewell Address) NOT to form partys. "coalitions" is fine with me, like they have in a parlimentatian system -because the coalitions shift alliances,
and are not locked into a Death Cage Match - where the goal is to destroy the other party.

Shifting coalitions would form fer' sure, but they would shift along issues, some ideology, but not the rigidity the US has.

ok. what attributes would you add to the 'dem' party to make it your ideal party?

What difference would it make? I am satisfied to do all I can to work in my own ways to agitate my desired changes in the party and it's platforms. Anything more than I do already just creates too much havoc in my life. Otherwise, I am happy.
