Colorado Dude - Insanity Plea?

There's no way this guy can get away with an insanity plea is there since he had been planning and preparing this attack for months?

I don't know. But is there any doubt he is insane? I mean, do sane people do this? I guess the question is, is he legally responsible for his actions? I think that his planning and preparation will make it very difficult to successfully argue that he isn't.

how can you be capable of rigging a sophisticated booby trap in your apartment and still be incapable of realizing your actions are illegal?.....

Psychosis does not always incapacitate someone. If his delusions were serious, he might have planned all this in reaction to them.

That said, I would rather see him get life in solitary confinement.

Whatever he gets there should never, ever, be a chance that he can walk free in society ever again.

Is that your expert legal opinion after researching and studying Colorado and Federal elements of an insanity defense and how they relate to one who plans his crime for an extended period of time?

the amount of pre-meditation this guy took will negate any insanity defense. no jury is ever going to buy it.

Explain to me how pre-meditation affects the insanity defense in Colorado and federal courts. Do they follow the McNautin rule or not? What's the standard?

I'm no grammar expert but it looks like a questioning statement to me. I think he is asking for folks' opinions .. Indicated by the ? At the end of the statement.
