You Didn't Get There On Your Own

Sound familiar?

But this time it's different. This time it's Mitt Romney addressing the 2002 Olympians.

“You Olympians, however, know you didn’t get here solely on your own power,” said Romney, who on Friday will attend the Opening Ceremonies of this year’s Summer Olympics. “For most of you, loving parents, sisters or brothers, encouraged your hopes, coaches guided, communities built venues in order to organize competitions. All Olympians stand on the shoulders of those who lifted them. We’ve already cheered the Olympians, let’s also cheer the parents, coaches, and communities. All right!

In all honesty, just like Obama's statement, that too is being taken out of context. And that's the point The Moderate Voice is making:

Mitt Romney has criticized President Obama for his “you didn’t build that line,” when it came to businesses. The president was making an “it takes a village” argument, which the Romney campaign and conservatives have roundly panned.

But in 2002, during his speech at the Opening Ceremonies at the Winter Olympics — the games in which Romney was lauded for turning around the management of the event — Romney made a similar argument about Olympians.

But accuracy, schmaccuracy, and holding politicians (particularly Mitt Romney) accountable for past assertions, what does that matter? The point is political attack and repeating political mantras.

It's high time Romney and the Republican Party quit lying, state a platform, and release tax returns.

LOL

The liberal Obama lapdogs are really trying to save Obama's ass

Romney was paying tribute to the voluntary community and family support system behind every Olympic athlete. Obama was assailing individual achievement to advance higher taxes on business owners. Romney was showing appreciation to the network of individuals who help athlete achieve their dreams. Obama was showing contempt for private entrepreneurs who don’t believe they should be punished with even more confiscatory government policies that hinder their success.

The most amusing part of the MSNBC hit piece? This:

For the record, the post did not originate with the Obama campaign but an NBC archive search.

Yep, just to make it clear: The Obama campaign didn’t need to tell NBC archivists to play gotcha word games with Romney to help the White House out. NBC’s “real reporters” did it all on their own!

Good lapdoggies. WOOF!

It's just Hillary's old "It takes a village", reworded. This country was founded upon ppl working together towards a common goal. Today, that's changed. What we have today is "To each his own" and damn the little people.

It took sick minds in the Republican party to infer something else.

In the future, I'd like to have a lot of personal wealth to report on, just so I can stick a bunch of it into the Cayman Islands. I am so fucking tired of people whining about Swiss and Cayman accounts, I would like to place my money there purely out of spite. Poor people suck.

Yeah, back in 1980, 87% of Americans paid Federal income tax. Now only 47% do and the top 10% pay 70% of all Federal Taxes
