Jim Henson Company breaks ties with Chick-fil-A over gay marriage stance

Boycotting Chik-fil-a won't make the owner change his opinion. Changing his opinion isn't the point. Deciding not to enrich a bigot, is the point. No need to help scumbags prosper, is the point.
Especially right wing bigots that use their millions to fund the inequality.

Jeez, BAC - I expect the righties here to have reading issues. Not you.

I know they changed the policy. That's not an obscure piece of history. I didn't say that they did not. I was talking merely about intent for comparison's sake.

No desire to argue with you good brother. I apologize if I mischaraterized what you said.

However, I believe in boycotts and I spend money as if I was making a political statement.

That's just me.

ppl have a right to assemble, boycotting by a group is the right to assemble, to advance their political ideas.

While the 1st only says petition the government for a redress of grievances; an economic boycott is basically an assembly(not a petition), and that is not just restricted against the government.

Chic-a fil-A has a right to a political position(if it's a non public owed sompany) , but they do so at their own risk to customer volume
This is how the 1st is set up, and has been used many times, it's perfectly legal, constitutional, amd is what the framers actually wrote

It's definitely legal. I would never argue that it isn't.

That boycott hurt the Chicks. Sales didn't really increase, and they had to find a whole new audience. Nashville abandoned them, and they canceled concerts in the south and toured the north & Canada more than they would have.

They went through hell. I hated that boycott.
In the short term it did. In the long term it made them stronger. It made them diversify their music and their fan base and then they came back even stronger winning 5 Grammys in 2007 including Album of the year, which was rated #8 in the Billboard 200 and #1 on the country album charts. Ultimately it's about the music and the Dixie Chicks still kick ass. There not the only performers who've gone through this. The Boss was boycotted in 86 by rightwingers and activist for his "Born in the USA" album. The Album and the music was so brilliant that the boycott failed utterly and isn't even remembered now. I can remember Reagan complementing the song as being patriotic with out even realizing the song is a strong condemnation of the role the US government played in Vietnam and the disgraceful way the US governement treated Vietnam era vets.

Still....it's bad business. I know that brilliant artist such as Barbara Striesand and Yussuf Mohammed (Cat Stevens) hurt themselves through political activism.

Too bad because I actually like their food .. and I don't eat much fast food. Their food tastes kinda' wholesome.

The Chick-mini's (chicken in a buttery biscuit) are delicious in the morning. The raisin carrot salad is good and creamy.

I even like their ads with the cows imploring you to eat more chicken.

I'm sure going to miss Chick Fil a .. however, we've got Zaxby's to fall back on. :0)

It is still fast food crap... it may be slightly better on a relative basis to other fast food crap, but still... fast food crap.

Boycott every one of them. They all suck.

Of course you make an excellent point brother. Since I've crossed Chick Fil a off my list, I'm down to just Zaxby's and their heavenly fast food chicken. :0)

A guilty pleasure.

SF is one of those that has no guilty pleasures, he is practically perfect, but will die anyway.
