Discussing his economic policies at a fundraiser in Oakland, California, last night, President Obama, told supporters that “we tried our plan — and it worked. That’s why I’m running for a second term.”

Obama made these comments in Oakland, where the unemployment rate was 13.7 percent in May 2012. The national unemployment rate is 8.2 percent — up from 8.1 percent in May — for the second straight month.

LOL

The turnaround from the forecast WORST DEPRESSION IN THE HISTORY OF THIS NATION was and remains nothing short of a worldwide miracle. Other nations haven't fared nearly so well. Many are now adopting the plans of President Barack Hussein Obama. His plans did and do work.

What, exactly, is his plan, Gutterman? How did it work? Pretend I'm a brand new recruit and don't know the first thing about cultivating liberalism.

The plans and policies of President Barack Hussein Obama concerning the then coming DEPRESSION alone are too numerous for me to attempt to educate you about. But they obviously worked and are still working. To deny that is simple folly on it's face. What else would you like to know?

You saw the second quarter growth rate of 1.5%. I can't imagine you are arguing that is a success?

Considering what was being forecast in 2008 and early 2009 it is an enormous success. We see what happens with inaction. Check out the news coming out of Europe and Greece. They are now seeking advice from guess who? President Barack Hussein Obama.

Let's see if we can get this straight. our best years have been under democratic government, the liberal governments of Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy Johnson, and then consider our nation has gone the other direction under Reagan, the Bushs, and even Clinton who sold out on many important items. Then look back to our history, Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, Great Depression, Reagan, Clinton, Bush, Great Recession. Reagan S&L bailout. Does that not tell you anything? But too many voters vote single issues and there are powerful republican memes on taxes, government, and welfare that drive the voter to bad choices. Then consider marginal issues such as prayer in school, abortion, and gay rights, and you have a powerful list of single issues that lead again to bad choices.

Obama has removed DADT, provided an stimulus that is rebuilding America, modified our unjust immigration laws, passed a beginning to UHC, helped GM and Chrysler survive and thus guarantee lots of good paying American jobs, republicans have done nothing but whine and create fictions to distort the real situation in America. As I always ask, tell me something conservatives have done for all of America? Harry Truman had republicans pegged long ago, even before corporate conservatism completely took over the party.

"Republicans approve of the American farmer, but they are willing to help him go broke. They stand four-square for the American home -but not for housing. They are strong for labor - but they are stronger for restricting labor's rights. They favor minimum wage - the smaller the minimum wage the better. They endorse educational opportunity for all - but they won't spend money for teachers or for schools. They think modern medical care and hospitals are fine - for people who can afford them. They consider electrical power a great blessing - but only when the private power companies get their rake-off. They think American standard of living is a fine thing - so long as it doesn't spread to all the people. And they admire of Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it." Harry S. Truman

We had higher growth rates in Q1 '12 and you are arguing our growth dropping in Q2 to 1.5% is an enormous success? Partisanship (whether on the right or left) makes people say some very interesting things.

The recession was over June 09, 5 months after Obam took office, long before his policies were even implemented.

The specifics, you moron. Give me five examples of success.

anemic growth, high unemplotment/record debt - even supassing Bush/ costly wars, this is sucess?

I said long ago I'll judge Obama fairly on his out comes, I haven't seen much of anything but flat or cut wages, greater weath gap ( GOP gets soem blame here).

Not much to vote for, maybe the lessor of 2 evils.

How many attempts does he need to make, to increase demand?

It worked to an extent. It didn't work to the extent that they thought it would, and it certainly didn't save the economy.

But who thought it would save the economy? Frankly, there isn't much in the way of domestic policy at the moment that will amount to much...

It seems that many have adopted the simplistic view that that President has electronic like control over the economy. Other than veto power , he is but a cheerleader on the sidelines when it comes to congressional action.
