Loser Libertarian Compares Obama to Aurora Shooter

This is why Libertarians are twinge-worthy fringe scum. The billboard, btw, is mantained by the Idaho Freedom Foundation, an avowed racist militia group.



A Caldwell billboard is raising questions in the Treasure Valley as it compares President Obama to accused Colorado killer, James Holmes.

The billboard on Franklin Road equates the actions of the president's foreign policies to the acts of Holmes, who's suspected of killing 12 people in the theater shooting.

The group that owns the board, The Ralph Smeed Foundation, says it wants to draw attention to military men and women dying overseas.

"(It's) way over the line, and I am not an Obama supporter," Lynn Davis Hathaway, said on the KBOI 2News Facebook page.

A spokesman for the group says everyone has the right to their own opinion.

Ashley Helton, who also wrote on Facebook, agrees with the group.

"It's a free country, this group has a right to voice their opinion no matter what anyone thinks about it," Helton said.

I hadn't seen this one. I did see the comparisons between the Aurora shooter and the guns sold to the mexican cartels which have killed far more people.

But how is this different from the claims that George W. Bush was a murderer? Or the claims that Charleton Heston and Wayne LaPierre are responsible for the Aurora theater shootings or murders in general?
 
I don't like this kind of false equivalency in general (didn't like it w/ Bush, either).

But I know quite a few anti-war folks on the left who would agree w/ the basic sentiment. I wouldn't single out libertarians on this one.
 
yeah, it's not like any of our presidents has ordered drone strikes and killed hundreds of innocent civilians in order to facilitate the death of one terrorist, ever.

You were one of the few on the left that didn't go nuts during the Bush years, as I recall.

I agree with you on the dislike of this sort of thing. I also dislike that some seem to find it ok as long as it is oriented against the other side, but dislike it when it is pointed back their way.

To be fair, I was virulently anti-war during the Bush years, and truly hated his foreign policy in general. But, Obama has been a great disappointment in this regard - sure, he hasn't started a major conflict like Iraq, but he was slow to get out of there, and we're still in Afghanistan.

And you're certainly right about the double-standard; Bush had stuff like the billboard in the OP thrown at him every week.

I have always been anti-war as well. The entire fiasco was a waste of human lives. Now if we can just get our people home.

Comparing Obama to Holmes makes it easy to justify inciting violence against the president. Yes, 'fringe scum' does that.

You know, you get a little hysterical sometimes. Nowhere did I even mention Libertarians, in part or in whole, so quit with the dramatics. You don't need to 'read into' my posts. I mean what I say and nothing's encoded.

Yes it does...taken exactly as the other side does. What's good for the goose ..... So calling Libertarians 'fringe scum' puts the democrats on the same level. It is what our world of politics has degraded to. I dislike it when either side uses such tactics and have ever since I've been involved in politics. I walked out of a campaign event for a local candidate years ago when a few folks in the crowd had a little Clinton doll in a hangman's noose.

I was literally thrown out of the local Republican party cause I wouldn't bend on principle.

You quoted Howey's post that said "This is why Libertarians are twinge-worthy fringe scum", and then added "'Fringe scum' is putting it mildly".

How was I to know that you were referring to a different group?

As for my hysteria, I assure you I am quite calm.
