“I like Governor Palin. I’ve met her. I know her. She – attractive candidate,” Cheney told ABC’s Jonathan Karl. “But based on her background, she’d only been governor for, what, two years. I don’t think she passed that test … of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake.”
Cheney becomes one of the few high-profile Republicans to say publicly what some inside the party say privately — that Palin was a bad choice. Palin’s time as the GOP’s vice presidential nominee was marked by an awkward interview with CBS’s Katie Couric, and since then, she has seen her unfavorable rating rise significantly. Today, she is one of the most unpopular politicians in the country.
The former vice president, in his first interview since a successful heart transplant, suggested that Palin’s selection wasn’t well-handled.
“The test to get on that small list has to be, ‘Is this person capable of being president of the United States?’” he said.
Cheney has been deeply involved in picking GOP vice presidents in the past, including helping George W. Bush in the process that eventually led to Cheney’s selection in 2000.

But it was only the liberals who believed that.

Picking Palin was dumb, silly, outrageous, crazy, foolish...... Maybe she is smart and educated and intelligent and whatever but she sure doesn't come across like that.

i said from the beginning palin is an idiot. that said...she actually increased interest in voting for mccain. so i don't see how it was a mistake for him. didn't his poll numbers go up after he picked her?

And when ppl began to know and understand more about her the numbers sank like a rock. I continue to respect John McCain.

thank you troll

would be nice if you actually debated a point, instead of just posting cartoons...............over and over and over and over and over

cite proof that was just because of palin. i would like to see those numbers.

Ken was addressing that "duh" cartoon to me. You don't get it but it is entirely appropriate. You want a cite? Google is your friend, yuck, but my memories serve me honestly and accurately in this regard. The Palin/McCain ticket lost to whom? Unbelievable in modern day American elections. My wife and I were so proud the night the returns came in that we both broke down in tears hugging each other and praising the idea that racial tensions in America had finally been lessened to the point that something like this could actually happen. It was indeed a day of rejoicing for the entire nation. But, we soon found out the old attitudes and opposition were as nasty and unrelenting as ever before. Fuck 'em. They are now irrelevant.

Surely that is a comment, isn't he saying that it was self evident.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. As the worst VP ever, I don't think Cheney should be casting stones. To emphasize my point....it took him 4 years to come to this conclusons?

Dick....go back to something you're better at....like duck hunting.

I do to but his year was 2000 which was a pivotal time for the Republican party when it decided there was no longer room for moderates in the party. Had McCain beaten Bush in the 2000 primary there's a good chance I'd still be a Republican. I'm sure he was right that he would of beaten Al Gore like an old rug. He didn't win the nomination and Bush ended up losing the popular vote to Al Gore and the crazied ended up taking over the Republican party.

Poor Dixie, he must be in tourmoil, Cheney and Sarah Barracuda can both do no wrong, so how can this paradox exist?

Its funny how four or five years often shines light on the sillyness of the last conservative rage.
