**Offical Olympic Medal Count thread**

Seems to be interesting how when we win Olympic sports we get the America(Fuck Yeah!) speech. When A country we don't like beats us, we trot out the breeding program, the young athletes, drug usage and any other argument that we can lay our hands on.

It's puny North Korea. No one is accusing China, Italy, France, or South Korea.

**DAILY UPDATE**

#1. China. 10 gold, 6 silver, 3 bronze
#2. America (FUCK YEAH!). 6 gold, 7 silver, 5 bronze.
#3. Japan. 1 gold, 4 silver, 7 bronze
#4. France. 4 gold, 1 silver, 4 bronze
#5. Italy. 2 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze.

Kristin Armstrong won gold for the USA in the time trial cycling event, the purest and most prostegious of the cycling events. Wiggo just won gold in that discipline for the UK. Safe to say Wiggo is the dominant cyclist in the world right now. Poor Taylor Phinney. He finished 4th in the road race and he finished 4th in the Time trial. One spot off the podium each time. No fears...he's only 22 and both his parents were great cyclist. His father was a bronze medalist in the 84 olympics and won several TdF stages. His mother was a gold medalist in the road race in 84. Looks like there's been a passing of the torch to younger US riders. With cyclist with the talent of Phinny, Van Garderen and Tyler Farrar we'll see some big wins for US cyclist in the future.

**DAILY UPDATE**

#1. China. 15 gold, 8 silver, 4 bronze.
#2. America (FUCK YEAH!). 10 gold, 8 silver, 8 bronze
#3. France. 5 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze.
#4. South Korea. 4 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze.
#5. Germany. 3 gold, 7 silver, 2 bronze.

We're still just one medal behind China which has 4 times as much population. Not bad America! (F*ck Yeah!)

I'm wondering when Chess will be an Olympic event. It is officially a "sport"... When that happens the Ruskiis will do much better in the counts.
I mean there is a gray area between a sport and a game and chess is with out a doubt the ultimate game. I'd have no problem with it being an olmpic venue. Though it would be about as exciting to watch as the Repulbican/Democratic National Conventions or watching grass grow.

Well, that's fine. They don't show fencing... I remember watching it when I was a kid and how boring it was. NBC is doing an atrocious job at this. They suck at "news" and they truly suck at the Olympics. I hope they never get the contract again.

I was watching fencing this morning. I like it, especially now that the Americans (both men and women) are more competitive. It was on msnbc's channel while the Today Show was on the regular network. I've been switching back and forth between beach volleyball and swimming since. Made the mistake of switching to NBC Sports channel and they were showing soccer. I made a quick exit from there.

I'd rather watch fencing than soccer... But, unlike teachers, I am at work now and have to watch the taped crap that NBC spews at night.
