Responsible Gun Owners?

Todd Canaday

Todd Canady just wanted to buy some milk Monday evening and was simply fumbling for his wallet at the Walmart checkout lane when he heard a loud, eardrum-rattling noise, followed by a sharp pain in the leg.

At that point, the 23-year-old Dallas resident realized what happened: He forgot to put the safety on the Springfield .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol he had holstered inside his pants.

The bullet grazed Canady's leg before it struck the concrete floor, causing shards of cement to fly into the air and hit one woman and her kindergarten-age daughter, according to WFAA.com.

Four people, including Canady, were injured, according to the Associated Press.

So he went Plaxico Burress. Would you like to see something done by the government as a result of this?

Sounds like an ATF agent.

Kid shoots self with mother's gun

The mother of the 3-year-old boy who accidentally shot himself on Sunday in his family's South Bend home doesn't need any further education on why leaving a handgun in reach of a child is a bad idea.

The boy is hospitalized at Riley's Children's Hospital in Indianapolis after suffering a serious wrist injury.

His mother told police that she kept the gun for security. Her husband works nights and she apparently was sleeping with her 2-month-old on the living room couch with the 9 mm semiautomatic nearby in an unlocked safe box. She thought the 3-year-old was asleep, as well. Imagine her horror when she awoke to a shot and saw her boy had been hit.

howey has definitely taken on the troll's mantle. the premise of this thread is flawed. no one ever claimed all gun owners are responsible. just like not all car owners are responsible. or alcohol drinkers. or knife users.

showing that a minority of users, very much minority, are irresponsible, proves absolutely nothing.

the military and police have irresponsible users. does howey want to take their guns away too?

howey has definitely taken on the troll's mantle.

Nah...keep your mantle. It's the only big thang you have.

the premise of this thread is flawed. no one ever claimed all gun owners are responsible.

But all gun owners claim to be responsible.

Umm....yes? How often do you see stories that start with "Officer relieved of duties following shooting"...?

Your first link mentions not a damn thing about guns or shooting:
A Houston police officer is off the job for allegations of wrongdoing.
On June 21, officer Adan Carranza, 32, was relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of an ongoing police internal affairs investigation. HPD officials would only say the inquiry is into allegations of criminal activity against the officer.
On Wednesday, criminal charges had not been filed against him.
Carranza joined the Houston Police Department in September 2009. He was currently assigned to the Westside Patrol Division.

Your second link DOES mention it, but somehow I fail to see how a paid vacation is much of a punishment:

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston police officer has been relieved of duty as police investigate his involvement in a deadly shooting outside a River Oaks-area bar over the weekend.

The Houston Police Department says Officer Jose Coronado has now been relieved of duty, but this apparently does not mean he's been fired. A spokesperson says Officer Coronado will still be paid, just not doing police duties during the course of the investigation into this shooting. Officer Coronado's attorney tells Eyewitness News the officer had been drinking early Saturday at Sherlock's Baker Street Pub and Grill. A union spokesperson says he was not legally drunk though when he opened fire on two men outside the bar.

Third link also fails to mentions guns or anything related to them:
Chattanooga Police Officer Steve Jones, a 25 year veteran, was relieved from duty this past Saturday night during the Riverbend Festival.

Police Information Officer Nathan Hartwig says Jones was reported to be under the influence of alcohol while on duty where he was riding an assigned Chattanooga Police motorcycle.

His blood was drawn and sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations for results of the alcohol content.

The investigation is still on-going and he is facing possible internal policy violations as well as criminal charges.

Hartwig says there are further concerns of how the preliminary investigation was handled which is being reviewed by the Internal Affairs Division.

And, unsurprisingly now, your 4th link fails to mention guns or shooting. I guess you might think you'd receive partial credit here though, since there was actually violence involved:
HOUSTON -- Houston’s police chief says a policewoman seen in television footage punching a handcuffed robbery suspect in the face has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation.
A television crew was filming Thursday from a helicopter when police tracked a suspect in a convenience store robbery to an area near railroad tracks. The film shows two officers with the handcuffed suspect when a third officer walks up and hits the suspect.
Chief Charles McClelland says even before he saw the video, supervisors had initiated an internal affairs investigation.
Police say the officer is 36-year-old Angela Horton. A phone number for her was not found.
Gary Blankinship, president of the Houston Police Officer’s Union, notes that the video was shot from "a long distance away."

how can i, you've take over legion troll's mantle with the same absurdity he has.

But all gun owners claim to be responsible.

pathetic dodge of my question. once again - who claims all gun owners are responsible. answer the question instead of running away all the time.

Umm....yes? How often do you see stories that start with "Officer relieved of duties following shooting"...?
