Why are US athletes taxed on Olympic medal wins?

Tell us Tommy boy... did Obama avoid paying taxes too? Is he a tax evader? Or did he, like Romney, use the current tax code to minimize his tax bill... just as every American tries to do?

My problem is not that Mitt used every tool available to him to pay as little as legally possable. My problem is that those tools were available to Mitt in the first place and that Mitt promotes keeping the system that allowed him to pay a smaller effective tax rate than struggeling middle class families.

What people object to the most is that, as you say, Romney has access to many ways to keep his tax bill as low as possible. The longer he takes to show his records the more people will be suspicious that he has something to hide.

What a crock of shit. It's income. It should be taxed at the applicable rate for that persons income. Rubio is just a pandering right wing ideologue who views any form of taxation as a punishment as opposed as to contribution and obligation to build and maintain our nations infrastructure and government services. The nonsense I was referring to is in regards to your jab about Romney 'avoided paying taxes'... he did what we all do... he used the tax code to minimize his tax liability. Those of you who continue to trot out this nonsense about his taxes are simply jealous of the fact that he was successful. You, like Jarod, Dune, Bijou etc... continuing to harp on it while ignoring the FACT that all Americans try use the tax code to minimize taxes. Many Dems in the Obama admin actually 'forgot' to pay some that they were legally required to pay... yet that was ok... because they weren't as rich as Romney

I Have said again and again, its not that he might have done anything illegal that bothers me, its that he likely paid VERY little in taxes LEGALLY that bothers me. Because he is super rich, he was allowed to avoid his responsability.

Well excuse me if I got that wrong but aren't potential presidents supposed to show a good example? Offshoring earned income to avoid tax is not a very good example to set for the poor bastards who are wage slaves.
