Talk of Raising Top French Tax Rates to 75%

This talk is not new but it was too good to pass up this quote in the story from a French tax attorney. This is just red meat.

“French people have an uncomfortable relationship with money,” Mr. Grandil said. “Here, someone who is a self-made man, creating jobs and ending up as a millionaire, is viewed with suspicion. This is big cultural difference between France and the United States.”

Marxist Socialists always view people of wealth with suspicion, they are doing it here now! They don't believe wealthy people deserve their wealth, it was ill-gotten gains from their perspective. Someone profited off the sweat equity of someone else who remained poor. The French are where the pinheads got the whole idea of class warfare.

My first reaction to this was; GOOD! I hope they pass it! That way, we get to see first-hand what the results will be! Maybe then, pinheads will realize what a failure of an idea this is.... but then I realized, they'll never get it! Even if this destroys France, they will still believe that it was too little too late, or something else was to blame, they should have increased it to 90%, or whatever. They don't care about the results, it's about bringing down capitalism so socialism can reign supreme.

I'm sorry is he saying the view of suspicion is different here? Because it sounds rather familiar. God help you if you're in that 1% category because apparently you're instantly an evil megalomaniac who should give all their money to charity lest you go to hell

Dixie, you know France has nuclear missiles right? You really want to see anarchy in a country that can take out entire cities?

Not quite as simple as that. We have seen in recent weeks evidence that the super rich and their companies and organisations are avoiding payment of 'some', if not all taxes. In the past we have seen senior bank executives treating public money as their own. Many (not all of course) rich companies, governed by rich executives, are responsible for out sourcing jobs and for underpayment of their staff. When you are that rich and you have that power there are many advantages you can take that are not open to the common man.
In my experience as a socialist of many years standing, socialists want a fair society, they do not, generally, have a problem with taxation and they certainly do not hold ALL wealthy people with suspicion. What they do, however, is to question. They question the rich and the powerful, not because those people are crooked but because it is easier for them to be so. Taxes are paid for the good of society and society decides, by its representatives, how that tax should be paid.
So I, for example, am pleased if my taxes go towards the supply of libraries because I enjoy the service they offer. I am not pleased to find that the rich and powerful are taking advantage of my taxes and not contributing themselves.
Socialists would like to see .... read this very carefully because it is true .... socialists would like to see equal opportunities, equal use of the law, and total honesty. Socialists want all people to have better lives, not just the greedy and immoral. Socilaists DO NOT advocate mass poverty, that is a myth supported by the poor fools who follow the rich from table to table in the hope of a crumb or two.
We know that far from being able to exist in this world by their own efforts alone, ordinary people need other ordinary people. There is no hatred of the rich but there is certainly a degree of mistrust.
The message really is that we are all socialists apart from those who can afford to live beyond the law and good society.
Glad to welcome you aboard - leave your gun at the door.

See what I mean?

No, are you trying to say that the rich behave with impeccable honesty at all times and do not require any monitoring?

I don't think there is some "greed gene" that only rich people have and poor people don't. I don't think corruption or dishonesty is any more prevalent in wealthy people than poor people. And I don't believe when a person becomes wealthy, they change into someone evil, heartless and corrupt. I don't think "rich people" require any more "monitoring" than any one else, and I don't think you've made that point.

Awesome reply, thanks.

Funny how righties think the world will crash down arround then if taxes rise one iota. I guess America's greatest period of prosperity, when the top tax rate was 90% eludes their memories. Especially funny considering it is France, where such things have been delt with "hands on" in the past.

So the SEC and EPA are a waste of time in your opinion?

They were interviewing Will Smith in France and asked him if he would be willing to pay at a 75% rate and he made it clear that was insane... He was all, "I'm willing to do my part!" until they asked about that, then he was like, "um... oh No!"

I am sure that the Swiss banks will be even busier than normal.

I haven't said that. You are trying to pretend that I have said we should just let wealthy people do whatever the hell they please, and ignore them breaking the law.... that isn't what I said, is it? I've just pointed out how Marxist-Socialists view rich people, and apparently, it struck a nerve because I was spot on.

I don't think your lifelong prejudices allow you to fully understand socialism. Bit of a problem, if you don't mind me saying so.

The French are like everyone else....... except they are French.

Just like them... Here's a picture to help... :D

Remember the Hartlepool monkey.

(Hartlepool was once a town in the north of England. However since no one has visited for many decades it is likely it no longer exists.)
