You, of course, know my views of the VA. And how virulently I will defend it against ignorant people. It's not perfect, but it is the best health care system out there. The only thing that's bogging it down right now is the influx of veterans from the Afghanistan and Iraq wars as well as other veterans who cannot find affordable health care anywhere. It doesn't help that the Republicans in Congress refuse to allocate sufficient funds for care. Under the Obama administration, more has been done to improve mental health care alone than during the entire eight years of the Bush regime.

Governments always bitch about costs. If they save 1/3 they want to save more. It's the same old story. If they added 1/3 to their health budget bringing it in line with the US, comparatively speaking, imagine the service that would be available. 1/3 more doctors and nurses and clinics and labs and 1/3 more beds and.....Full staffed medical clinics would be as common as corner stores.

You can blow all the rhetoric horns you like, it's still not going to ever happen in the reality we live in. Can we find ways to save money and cut the military budget? We HAVE TO! There is no way around that, but to insist that we take some draconian step at gutting our military, while completely ignoring the 800lb unfunded liability gorilla in the room, is beyond stupid. Our problem is spending a trillion dollars a year more than we take in, and that can't be addressed with military cuts alone, I don't give a damn what you think.

It's not a matter of gutting it. The problem is every cent spent on the military is one less cent spent on social programs. Afghanistan. Iraq. Rattling on about Iran. Syria. Pakistan. When does it stop? Do you expect troops in every country? North Korea has atomic weapons and there's no US troops there.

The US has superior power. Unless the US invades and controls every country there will always be a chance of nuclear proliferation. That's just a fact. Either blow up every nuclear processing facility or wait for something to happen and then blow up the country. Having troops in every country to supervise things is not sustainable and the cost is resulting in people dying here due to inadequate medical care. Furthermore, the people in the Armed Forces could be doing work here instead of building things in other countries. It's not just the money spent. It's the waste of human time and labor with no benefit to the average US citizen.

A virus. Drones. Those things accomplish the job at a much lower cost. It's time to take a different approach. The last thing needed is the same old tired, worn out ideas; the Repub stock in trade.
 
Here's the deal Apple, what you actually know and understand of our national defense, would fit on a postage stamp. It's like listening to an 8-year-old explain foreign policy, you are a JOKE. We are part of an international alliance known as NATO. As such, we have certain obligations and commitments to other members of NATO, as well as our other allies. Now we can go back on our word, we can abandon our commitments, but that will come with a consequence. I realize 'consequence' is a hard word for liberals to comprehend, but it means there will be a price to pay for our action.

As I have pointed out NUMEROUS times, our entire military budget... the WHOLE THING... is costing us less money than Obama has OVERSPENT in one fiscal quarter of his presidency. Not less than Obama has spent... hear that correctly.... less than Obama has spent OVER the amount he had available to spend! We could completely dismantle our military, and the money saved would not cover a fiscal quarter of DEBT rung up by this administration. Even a brain-dead retard can figure out, cutting the military budget isn't going to help that situation. Completely dismantling the military entirely, wouldn't pay for what Obama is overspending.

Now of course, I realize, as liberals you all want to see the US military industrial complex destroyed, and you will completely ignore myself and others on the right who have said that we can find sensible and reasonable cuts to be made in the military budget, in favor of some liberal wet-dream of sweeping draconian gutting of our military, without any regard for the consequences of your action. But let me assure you, the last thing in the world an unemployed American wants to hear, is that you are closing the military base in their town, which provides the economic prosperity and jobs for the entire community. The size of our military is not their biggest concern, regardless of their political affiliations. But you only really care about people when it's convenient politically, we all know that already.

What kind of "pox" am I? Chicken or Small? I'm just curious, because it sounded so very sophisticated and dramatic. I think maybe you could have worked in "scourge" if you really tried, that would have sounded even more dramatic and bombastic. That was what you were going for, I assume? Obama and Ryan both include the same cost savings. The only difference is how they hope to achieve those cost savings. Ryan's shitty voucher program relies on competition and the invisible hand of the market while Obama relies on changing how and what Medicare pays for care.
