Reality of healthcare spells doom for GOP.

Shaken, not stirred!
Recently my 78 yr. old father, a retired NYC homicide detective, spent 1 week in the hospital for a bladder infection. He was diagnosed, treated, fed, nurses monitored him, and released on a short out patient status.

thank God he's okay now.

The cost, $23,000. With his insurance set up through his UNION, his out of pocket was $300! $2300 for an elderly couple with medical issues (Mom has a condition for the last 16 years that requires routine check-ups and occasional hospitalization due to flare-ups) would put them in dire straights.

Now, picture someone WITHOUT a union pension and medical coverage given an $8K voucher and told to shop around for an insurance company (sans the AHCA) that will give them equal coverage!

Somebody needs to hip Romney/Ryan that their corporate flunky BS dog just isn't going to fly.

No worries - we're sending that memo in November. ;)

The cost would've been zero if he were on Medicaid. what a sucker.

Those bloated hospital bills would be history under the Ryan plan. What you're doing, you disingenuous bastard, is applying Ryan's plan to current Medicare policies.

Stop spreading lies. You're getting Bijou all excited. ;)

Then please explain in detail HOW the Ryan plan would reduce his bill to zero.

Can you cite anything accurate, liar?

Sorry to hear that your parents are having health issues, but glad to hear they are doing ok.

But, what makes you think that I shouldn't decide for my self who to work for, what if any union to join, what insurance to carry? Why should you make that choice for me?

Doesn't matter, the Ryan plan is dead. Your comparison is irrelevant.

If the Ryan plan is dead so is their campaign. What else can they run on? lower taxes for the rich? LOL!

the right is getting dumber by the day.

Who said they should?

I have a small business. I have 12 employees. All belong to one of 2 different unions. They don't have to but if they want to work for me they really need to keep looking as I like the idea of only having to deal with one or two reps that are professional and my experience has been that they look after the better interests of my employees and my business. The unions are NOT in the business of running people like me out of business. It is amazing how much innovation and commitment I get directly from them and for no special favors or pay. I simply treat them with respect, pay them a living wage and I remain as concerned about them and their lots as I expect them to be for me and my lot. I also keep a large picture of President Obama on the wall behind my desk and often refer to him as President of my company.

I doubt there will be zero cost for health care. It's Communist and immoral to want free coverage; especially when you consider all the the schooling & training it took for medical staff to get where they are today.

Recognizing the problems facing Medicare, the House-passed Budget:

Strengthens health and retirement security by taking power away from government bureaucrats and empowering patients with control over their care.

Repeals the new health care law’s unaccountable board of bureaucrats empowered to cut Medicare in ways that would jeopardize seniors’ access to care.

Saves Medicare for current and future generations, with no disruptions for those in and near retirement.

For younger workers, when they become eligible, Medicare will provide a premium-support payment and a list of guaranteed coverage options – including a traditional fee-for-service option – from which recipients can choose a plan that best suits their needs.

Program growth would be determined by a competitive-bidding process – with choice and competition forcing providers to reduce costs and improve quality for seniors.

Premium support, competitive bidding, and more assistance for those with lower incomes or greater health care needs will ensure guaranteed affordability for all seniors.

I love how this guy thinks, and you will too when he becomes your new Vice President. ;)

jaybird is definitely free to choose whatever she wants. Obviously she chooses not to work for me or anyone else like me. Tuff shit for her!

Trying to get under my skin by assigning an opposite gender as an insult...How very juvenile...so much so that I doubt your ownership of anything outside your own fantasy.

Pardon me, jaybird. You seem to me to write with a feminine inflection. I'll try and remember that. Obviously I did get under your skin anyway as I see your only comment is about gender reversal and nothing to do with the topic. Tuff shit for you!!!!!!!!!

Wow, a living wage, unions and 'concern' for your employees. Just what kind of traitor to the American Dream are you, anyway? :D

Without living wages, employee/employer organizations and mutual respect and concern there would be no so-called American Dream, Bijou. Most of my business associates and I understand that very well.
