Dixie - In Memoriam

Those of you who don't know about this can Google it, but apparently there is a flap over Paul Ryan's comments that his favorite band is Rage Against The Machine. Now, Rage sings of anarchy and bringing down 'the machine' or the governmental authority in general. Odd that Ryan would like this kind of message, but that is his preference in music. But now, the liberals are all in a tizzy over this, because apparently, you are forbidden from enjoying music unless you agree with the message of the artist! Or at the very least, you are a hypocrite, because you don't believe the same thing as the artist. I think this is one of the most sad chapters in American political history. To use music as a political weapon.
I am a conservative, a staunch red-state Ronald Reagan conservative. My viewpoints on fiscal policy are very conservative, and my viewpoints on social issues tends to lean more libertarian, but still considered conservative by most. I guess I should only be allowed to listen to Ted Nugent, Lee Greenwood and Ray Stevens? We should pass a law forbidding me to hear the Dixie Chicks or Greenday, because I don't agree with them politically. In fact, all music should be confined to only the people who appreciate the message itself, and no one else should be allowed to enjoy this music, without being publicly condemned as hypocrites. At least, that seems to be the 'message' I am hearing.
Even though I am devoutly right-wing, I have always been a HUGE fan of Bob Dylan, and I will remain a fan of his music until I die. Bob has certainly penned some mighty anti-establishment liberal anthems, and a lot of times, I have completely disagreed with the liberal interpretations of his work. Sometimes, I even get a completely different interpretation of what he is saying... that is the Beauty of Bob! What he is saying doesn't have to MEAN any particular thing or support any particular political view, it can be very universal in meaning, if you have the openness of mind to realize this. The thing is, Liberals tend to be the most closed-minded people on the planet... that is amazingly strange, but true.
