Why Why WhyWhy Whywhywhywhywhy????

What bothers me the most is peole who say I have an accent. I don't. You're all retarded. Also, I don't mumble.

And my wife says this constantly; "they're GIVING that show I like on TV" or "GIVING" a song on the radio. No, they're playing those, or showing them.

Young people (college age) sometimes get me... you can hardly understand them, everything is said in a monolithic cadence and words are run together. Especially if they are repeating some information, like a waiter/waitress at a restaurant giving you the specials..

HUH?? I swear, I have had to not only make them repeat themselves, but make them repeat themselves a second time, after telling them to slow it down and put pauses between the words so I can understand what the hell you're saying to me!

My other pet peeve is people who use "then" instead of "than" ...and we have a few here who do that.

The British "Cockney" accent is most annoying to some, but I have always found it amusingly funny.

Cockney is certainly amusing, I have a couple of cockney friends at present. One is a supporter of 'Wess tairm' foo'bor' team. But worse by far is the american 'kichen' language.
'Rrrbs' for flavour. Well, a liddle 'bay-cil', some 'Taam' (Tom?). I'll wager more housebricks have penetrated more television sets as a result of some american cooking show than anything else that is not bush.
