RNC delegate offended by ‘Mexican’ working at Epcot’s ‘America Pavilion’

Even as the Republican Convention in Tampa winds down, instances of highly questionable judgment on the part of its attendees continue to make headlines. According to Think Progress, Pennsylvania delegate Mark Harris and his wife Irene took a trip to Disney’s Epcot Center as a part of their trip to Florida, and were shocked and horrified by what they found there.

In a post called “Offended at Epcot” at the couple’s blog “Rock Star GOP,” Irene Harris wrote, “During our time at Epcot we visited the different countries. It was neat seeing each country and the employees were from that individual country. Then we visited America . . . one would think you would find American employees. We were offended to find a person from Mexico working in America.”

Mark Harris apparently complained to Disney personnel, but the blog post was not clear as to whether he spoke to anyone besides the Latino employee, such as a supervisor or customer service representative, or whether he was content to simply snipe at the offending worker. Irene wrote that her husband was “civil, but his point was well made.”

I have no idea what the fuck you're yammering about here, and I have no intention of clicking your liberal propaganda link to give their website any commercial support, but it appears the gist of this is; Epcot had some kind of exhibit represented by the various countries, and someone complained because the United States exhibit was represented with a Mexican person. Now, I am sorry.... but when we have examples of real racist hate groups out there, expressing real live hate for a race of people, perpetrating and endorsing violence against people because of their race, it's just a little disingenuous to call this sort of tacit criticism, "racism," in my opinion. In fact, it's downright insulting and disgusting, if you ask me.

Have we come to a time where no one can be criticized for anything, without it being racist?

Someone being called out for racism 'insults' you. Gee I wonder why that is??

:rofl2:

Nobody really expected a Racist POS like Dixie to actually call a racist a racist.

The thread is there to help highlight idiots like Dixie who give racists a pass.

I guess Mark and Irene Harris (whitest names evah!) live in some white-bred conservative gated enclave somewhere and the only Hispanics they encounter are the immigrant servants cutting the lawn and such. No wonder they had trouble with the notion of a Mexican American.

Only Irene I know is Irene Cara.

You stupidly posted the video to discredit my quip about 'whitest names evah', but it fell flat.

Following now?

Not trying to discredit you, I just posted the video because it was the first person to come to my mind when thinking of the name Irene. My apologies if I upset you. I'll ask ahead of time next time I post a video. And I apologize for being a young male at the time the Flashdance video came out and liking it. That was probably sexist on my part.

Don't mind the bitter... keep on loving Irene

You don't have the qualifications to upset me. Nice try, though. :D

These white bread Tpublicans don't recognize anyone else as American...they don't even recognize South America...the American continent is vast and includes more than our country. I'm so sick of these racist shits.

Let's see, any red-blooded American male (of any and all races) had a crush on Irene Cara if they were a youth when Flashdance came out. I'm a male. I admit I like women. I also admit I loved that Flashdance video and movie when it came out. I posted the song as a result.

For some reason you thought it was about you and 'trying to discredit' you. Sort of like Kayne West in South Park being the only one not to get the fishstick joke. No, I was trying to discredit you and no I wasn't posting it about you.

Are you retarded? Do you think I give a fuck who you had a crush on now or whenever? Get over yourself.

Hey, my granddad was a democrat, not a republican. Why do you leave out the dems? My Granddad sure was a racist.
