Al Franken

LOL you folks who bought the rhetoric from the healthcare reform bill are insane. Exactly how is it you believe the insurance companies are going to bring the costs down when they have their consumers held captive by federal laws? They have 40 million reasons to justify price hikes.

Why do people see the same facts so differently? Please explain the logic behind the expectation of lower prices.
Well it would help if you actually read the damned thing. You lower cost by bringing 40 million new customers into the market increasing revenue streams tremendously. You also make it affordable by requiring 80 to 85 percent of revenues to be spent on actual health care services and not administrative cost, tv ads and executive bonuses. Please do try to keep up.

Oh...and btw...since SCOTUS upheld the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act my BC/BS stock has gone up nearly 10%. So much for your fear mongering.

Please, Franken is a fool. Mandating that a certain percentage be spent on this or that means that more money will be spent on accounting tricks and greasing the regulators.

ObamaCare is the least of our worries, but piling on more and more garbage is not the answer either.

We have to cut back on welfare and warfare. A small tax increase is fine and may be optimal. We have to do something about our debt levels or this nation will splinter. We are not Europe. Europe is already fractured and have been at each others throats for some time. They have been moving towards centralization of the geographic and cultural divides but they see now that that is problematic. We have been moving in the other direction. If our debt becomes too high our union will not last and it will be messy.

Blah, blah, more fear mongering, blah, blah.

You lost me when you called a highly intelligent man a fool.

Wow, mandating spending is a line right out of Atlas Shrugged, the looters tell them you "must" do this and then when asked "how" say, "That's up to you, you're the doer, the maker..." and when the businesses failed they blame the business.

They are mandated to fill out certain forms, then you mandate that they don't do what is necessary to fill them out...

Al Franken chose to extort money from me, and has decided that I will have to go to jail when I don't obay the law, or pay his fine.

Yep, but Rand was JUST a crazy woman... BOO!

Well, except for the fact that healthcare costs in Massachusetts are out of control:

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/05/opinion/sunday/massachusetts-takes-on-health-costs.html

"But when it comes to controlling health care costs, Massachusetts has no advantage, and in fact is starting behind most other states. Its costs are among the highest in the nation, and they have been growing in recent years at 6 percent to 7 percent while the economy has been growing at less than 4 percent. That bleak picture may be changing. The growth rate of health costs has slowed significantly over the past year or two, but nobody knows if this is a temporary or lasting change."

Why are the concept of "Liberalism" and "facts" so mutually exclusive?

It goes with the territory. That is why Unk and Bijou have their little love affair. They merely reinforce their own stupidity. They refuse to look at any other facts that would disrupt their ideology

I'm surprised at how well the story fits these times. While that book was in desperate need of a good editor, she seems to have watched this particular time period while she was writing the story.

He's a scream. His books are a laugh-riot. The man's an outstanding comedy writer.

I use to think he was cool, but after he voted to extort money from me, and has decided that I will have to go to jail when I don't obay the law/him, or pay his fine, I no longer look at him as cool. At all!

He wasn't funny on saturday night live in the 70's, and has never been funny.

I hear that he was the one that came up with the cone heads. If that's true that's the only funny thing he's ever done that I know.
