Compared to most of the Muslim world, Indonesia and Malaysia are indeed fairly moderate. Perhaps not as moderate as Turkey. And there are a few hotbeds of fundamentalism (such as Aceh in Indonesia). Of course, Indonesians aren't culturally arabic, and the religion wasn't spread there by conquest. And really, culture has a great deal to do with it. Islam is intimately tied with arabic culture, while Christianity isn't really tied with any culture besides perhaps a very broad "western" one. If you go to, for instance, Lebanon though, you'll probably find that you have more in common with American Muslims than Lebanese Christians.

Not really. Sure, they may not kill people for their beliefs, but they're johnny on the spot to send people to their death in other Islamic countries. They don't even have an extradition treaty with Saudi Arabia - they just did it as a favor.
