bad news is cheered as if it is good news.

We have the worst economic recovery since WWII and we are told that this is the "new normal". Americans are supposed to accept 8% unemployment.

Full employment in a market economy is considered 5-7%. Sooooooo 8% is really not all that bad.

Well, when one considers that if the labor participation rate were the same today as it was on Jan 21, 2009 unemployment would be at 11%. That is double what is considered "full employment"

So tell me oh wise one. What can a president do so that people have more jobs? What part of his constitutional powers give him the magic to create jobs?

Presidential candidate Gary Johnson took a slightly unorthodox approach regarding job creation on Thursday. “I didn’t create a single job,” said the former Governor of New Mexico.

His statement came in response to a National Review article that complimented Johnson on his record as governor, saying that when compared to the other governors running for president, the rate of job growth was highest under his watch.

“Don’t get me wrong,” Johnson said in a statement. “We are proud of this distinction. We had a 11.6 percent job growth that occurred during our two terms in office. But the headlines that accompanied that report – referring to governors, including me, as ‘job creators’ – were just wrong.”

“The fact is, I can unequivocally say that I did not create a single job while I was governor,”

There are a multitude of answers to your question. First of all, when people say government can't create jobs that is not factually correct. Of course they can create a job. It is more accurate to say that they cannot create economic prosperity. Why people don't talk this way anymore is dismaying.

Secondly, if we had a President and Congress that lived by the Constitution or actually asked the question "Is what I am about to do Constitutional", then we wouldn't be having this question.

Lastly, nothing in my post indicated that any President could or should create jobs. I was merely stating an observation. I apologize if I have given you the impression that I am a big gobblement liberal who thinks that gobblement should solve all of our problems.

Well if they went to school and studied real subjects and went to college and grad school and studied science like I did instead of getting a GED in west Mississippi like you did that wouldn't be a problem now, would it? Cause right now my wife and I (she went to college too, worked hard and got a BS in Business) are kicken back and makin some jack and we aint crying like you cause LIFE IS GOOD! :)

So quit making excuses and blaming Obama and Government you sorry loser and get your lazy fat ass off the couch and get some skills and get your ass to work and quit being a whiny bitch loser and blaming others for your mistakes.

Yeah, science and skilled trades is pretty awesome.

Do you believe that regulatory and taxation policies may have an effect on business and hence on jobs?

He doesn't. He only has the power of persuasion. That power belongs to congress.

Incorrect, regulations are enacted by the executive that have nothing to do with something passed by Congress. Like EPA regulations that they brag will ensure that "no new coal power plants will ever be built in this nation again"...

Congress didn't pass that, but it does have an effect on jobs. The power they wield extends from the executive, not Congress.

He is an honest man. Those jobs were all created by Clinton and Bush.

This may sound like splitting hairs, but it is actually both. Congress writes the laws, but they have learned after getting their asses kicked at the polls to write them in such a vague way that it is then left up to the bureaucrats to "interpret" those laws.

But, I do understand your larger point. The career bureaucrats are more dangerous because they stay forever

Imagine if Romney said that on the campaign trail?

BTW, you sound very insecure. You always want to talk about your so called college degrees. Who are you trying to convince? Me? Yourself?

There is another who seems as obsessed over the GED as you. You seem to think they are they are less a person than you. Is that what you think of them?

While Congress passed legislation that created the EPA, the regulations they pass is an extension of power from the Executive. Hence, during Obama's tenure, his promise to "kill the coal industry" has come to fruition. This can, of course, be reversed by the next Executive. The reason that power extends from the Executive is first they appoint the heads of these things when they are elected, secondly Congress voted it in as an Executive appointment which is then held in minimal check by a vote to uphold the appointment by Congress.

Absolutely, however, I want to know what executive policy of this administration drove the unemployment rate to above 8%? Are you claiming that prior to March 2009 the jobs market was on it's way up and Obama did some specific thing to drive it down again. You KNOW I am not supporting this administration, however, we, as a country give far to much credit to a president for the good and the bad of an economy.

True that things are not great economiclly right now,but If Obama would have not given the Stimulas this country would have fallen into economic colapse because of the policies of the Bush administration.
